Jam was a little disappointed, to say the least, when his favorite toy was found. He'd been so pleased when he'd first located it, broken as it was, so pleased when he'd set it straight and wound it back up again. Endless amusement, that had been. Each night he would dig through the man's dreams, watch those interesting antics as though seeing them firsthand.

And then Sylar had been caught. And Jam was a little disappointed.

He waited until the man had fallen asleep, his first night in the jail, and then he slipped into those favored dreams again. This time it wasn't with the intention of watching. This time it was with contact in mind, as he had told Sylar he would be able to do so long ago.

Jam took in the setting with some interest. One of Sylar's kills? From his invisible stance, just off to the side, he peered closely at the woman's face before Sylar's sleeping mind fragmented it into glittering shards. No, this face belonged to a woman from the journals. An offworlder. Surely someone would have complained if she'd failed to come home. And the other face -- Jam recognized that one ( ... )

Everything started going wrong far too quickly. This had never happened before, and Sylar's mind struggled to compensate for the sudden changes. He stumbled back, doing everything he could to keep his balance on the ice that he had created only moments before while not taking his sight off of the monster. As Adam continued to morph into the creature, something within Sylar was reacting quite violently, trying to make some sense of what was going on ( ... )
