Some men would go after anything as long as there was a dress involved, or so it seemed to Bridget. The woman resisted the urge to sigh as she turned the corner and left the buzzing red-light district with a sense of relief. How many hands had drunkenly reached to see how far the slits in her dress traveled, only to have fingers left dislocated or a slash across the back of those hands? If she'd had more time, she would have spent it seeking out the main group supposedly keeping order along that street and given them some rather pointed motivation to do their jobs. Even lower-priced whores deserved some protection and respect, didn't they ( ... )

Well this particular male wasn't here for sex or any other services the buxom women of the red light district could offer. There was something that Lestat could get from the red light district, and I was the same color as the tinted light that shone through some of the lanterns on the walls--blood. It had been almost a month since Lestat's ship came in and the two-century old vampire was growing restless. Sylar had told him of the blood spring in the forest but Lestat instincitively knew it couldn't possibly be the same as the sweet nectar of life that flowed from the veins of mortals. He couldn't keep back his desires any longer so he took to the streets in search of his prey. The blonde rogue was dissapponted to find that amongst his other abilities he couldn't completly manipulate the thoughts of others any more. He wondered to himself if this was how Louis must have felt in this first years. No matter. He was good looking and surely he'd be able to find a woman willing to open herself to him. He was starting to give up the search ( ... )

Bridget slowed to a stop and gave the man a long, disgusted glance. Well, at least he didn't seem drunk... A little full of himself from the way he stood with a trace of lazy arrogance, but at least he was sober.

"Lost? No, I know exactly where I am and what goes on here." She replied at last. Her pale eyes glanced back the way she'd just come. "It seems that the men here are given to the believe that any dress worn around here can be lifted at their whim, an matter I intend to bring to the attention of whatever organization that claims to keep order here." It was a good thing she'd left that cat back at the house to sleep or the comments may have become more lewd. "So no, I'm not lacking in direction, merely employment."

"Forgive me but as a woman seeking employment and in this particular district wouldn't that suggest something about your nature?" There was a very obvious hint of amusement in Lestat's voice. He knew as well as anyone that there were other means of employment in the red-light district for a lady but searching for those during the night didn't seem particularly well thought out.

"Besides, a woman of your exceptional beauty, how could the men not think that in this area you are perhaps a very rare and delicate prize." And there was the charm. He'd always been a master of charming the ladies and men as well.
