[He sees Bridget's entry right before he leaves for the jungle. Given that he lives one floor up, Hotsuma decides to see their guest for himself and forgo any journal responses. Akujiki's appetite could wait awhile. His descent to her chosen quarters is swift and noiseless.]
[True to her post, there is indeed a purple split-tailed cat cavorting about on her bedsheets. He regards the little creature for awhile before shifting his gaze to his housemate. What with her sleep-tousled looks and somewhat spare evening garb, the shinobi wonders if he should have knocked first.]
My old housemate and I used to keep the second floor windows open. Many cats have come and gone since then. Though... I've certainly never seen one like that in this stretch of neighborhood.
Bridget was sitting on the edge of the bed with her journal open but neglected in favor of the odd creature sitting on her other side. It certainly wasn't a mutated house-cat though, since it was almost three feet tall and the split tail was swishing around freely. Bridget's own eyes had more resemblance to a cat's than the pupilless orbs gazing back at her. The beast was quite smug, and Bridget was openly curious. At Hotsuma's entrance though, Bridget turned to look at him in bemusement. She didn't mind her state of dress (or lack of such), modesty was an unknown when one had grown up surrounded by nosy servants or commanded in the military.
"Ah! That would explain how it got in." A noble's pet? Doubtful since there was no way such a unique animal wouldn't be watched at all times. Various possibilities were already running through her mind at high speeds. His rather edged garb didn't go over her head, but it didn't phase her either. "I'll need to see if anyone is missing it then. Are you heading out?"
[It strikes him too; in this semi-darkness, his housemate seems even more feline than their visitor. He nods at her question, the eyes beneath that fearsome visor losing some of their usual hard lines.]
I seem to recall having one last fish in storage. She can have that if she is so inclined.
[At the mention of fish, the oversized cat perked up and looked at the ninja with a rumbling purr. Bridget smiled wryly and pushed herself off the bed. There was a brief stop to run a comb through her hair so it was actually presentable again.]
I take that as a hint... I can catch more tonight. Have you already eaten? I can cook something before you leave if you have the time.
