Of course he showed. What else was he gonna do? Bart was probably gonna be mad at him for at least another ten minutes, and Yoite basically slept all the time anyway.

And it wasn't like this was a normal thing (yet.) Sure, Robin and Red Hood did pair patrol some nights, but Jason... well, any time with Jason was okay by him. Which was why he was currently focusing on how to creep up behind somebody when they were already out in the open.

The wind in from the bay was flippin' cold.

It wasn't as easy to creep up on someone on a beach, where the sand would shift and make noise underfoot very easily. Tim still made such little noise that he would have undoubtedly been able to sneak past almost anyone - anyone who wasn't trained by Batman.

Jason turned when Tim was just close enough that he could step over and ruffle the younger boy's hair. "Nice try, kid."

Jason was glad he brought his jacket, oh yes.

The other solution to the cold was to warm up, of course, and Tim got started on that by pivoting with an upward palm to deflect the ruffle - and then dodging around the expected follow-up. Yeah, he might've been a little antsy, besides.

"Coulda been better." He didn't really stop moving, only minimized the bounce on his feet. "What's the word?"

Not likely there was news Tim didn't already know, but it kicked off the banter.
