She was upstairs in her room, reading a book, when she heard her senpai's voice calling her name like an excited child. What was he so excited about now? When Haruhi caught his second statement, she rolled her eyes. Why in the world did he want a dog? A puppy, no less. To her, pets seemed like more trouble than they were worth

Tamaki nodded frantically when he heard Haruhi. Once she actually caught sight of her instead of just listening to her, Tamaki took a few steps towards her. "Well think about it. It's not like our lives are incredibly busy. And dogs are like another part of the family." He smiled happily.
After everyone who came and left, Tamaki was feeling lonely, even if the one he loved was with him. Still, they could not be anymore than they were here. This Haruhi didn't know what happened before he came back here. She didn't know anything of those situations so maybe it was best they stayed like this. Maybe having a dog would get all those thoughts out of his head. Plus, it wasn't like the dog was from another world. It would stay with him.
"Well, come on!" He encouraged Haruhi. "You know you want one!"
She hated to admit it, but he was right. What did she do other than go to work, come home, and then either slept, read a book, or be incessantly harrassed by Tamaki-senpai? If you really looked at her life on the island, one would find it incredibly boring and definitely unfullfilling. Not that it mattered to her anyway.
Though, a new "member" to the "family" wouldn't be such a bad thing. Family... Now that was a silly notion in its own way. Haruhi had come to think of the Host Club as her "surrogate family"... but that was back home. Here, it was different (the lack of the other Hosts among other things). It was nowhere near the same as it was back home. She felt a tiny pang of homesickness shoot through her just then and frowned, but just for a second.
Pushing the thought aside, she came back to the thoughts of the potential pet. It wasn't much of a lively household anyway -- at the exception of Tamaki, of course. Then again, she did notice Tamaki's lack of "I-will-protect-my-daughter-at-all-costs" attitude lately. He was a little

Waiting for her answer, Tamaki grew impatient with excitment. Where would the dog sleep? His room or Haruhi's? Maybe they could alternate days? Or maybe during the week, Tamaki could have the dog sleep in his room and Haruhi got it weekends. ...But did that include Fridays?
His thinking made him almost miss Haruhi's agreement. Tamaki looked up and met Haruhi's smile with his own huge smile.
"Well, come on!" Tamaki grabbed Harhu's wrist and dragged her out the the door. "Nill said they were at her house! I don't think we have to fill out paperwork here so I think we just get the dog!" He told her.
"Wa -- waaaah!" Haruhi exclaimed as she was being pulled outside by a still overly excited Tamaki. After a minute or two of un-consented dragging, Haruhi said, "You know, I'm perfectly capable of walking by myself, senpai."
This, she thought, will definitely be Tamaki's dog. She rolled her eyes. Sure, she'd be there to help out with taking care of it, walking it, feeding it, and all that stuff, but her senpai would be the one giving it all the loving attention. Haruhi just didn't see herself dawdling all over the puppy. Yeah, they were cute, but... she just wasn't the over-affectionate type.
"What kind of puppies are they?" she asked, genuinely wondering. Not that she really knew any breeds of dogs, but it didn't hurt to ask.
