WHO: Vivi [clumsymagus] and Vögelein [manitou_made] with a possible guest appearance from Haruhi [reallyiamagirl] WHAT: Pickup at the docks. :3 WHEN: The day of Vögelein's arrival! WHERE: Docks.
Well the hat made Vivi pretty easy to spot, so as soon as Vögelein could see it making its way among the bustling people, she flew toward it, just high enough to avoid attention. He(?) wasn't as tall as she had thought, but then, almost certainly, neither was she.
"Hi there, Vivi?" In introduction, she dropped down into view and hovered at eye-level, giving a little wave as she did so. "Nice to meet you. I'm, ah, Vögelein." She pronounced it 'Pfeu-ge-line', with more care than she had had through the book.
Vivi heard his name, and nearly--or actually, fell back in shock at the sight of the tiny....was she a fairy? His bright eyes widened. "Wow! It's nice to meet you." He stood back up after a moment, dusting off his pants, and waved back. She was so small; he'd never, ever met a fairy before.
"Vögelein." He pronounced it carefully, taking pains not to mess it up. "That's a nice name. Um..." The little magus glanced around the docks and blinked. It really did seem crowded... "Sure! U-um...I live not too far away from here. With my friend, Dagger. She takes care of me. Did you want to go there?"
"Thank you." Vögelein beamed just a tiny bit at the little, uh, individual's... reaction. She may have been driven by necessity and taking a small risk, but so far she thought she had made a good choice. "I guess that would be all right, although anywhere without so many people would be fine."
She wasn't actually in any rush to get wound - theoretically her last had been under 24 hours ago. Still, since she had never cleared the agent for her reanimation, it was probably best to be sure and reset the cycle as soon as possible. Better careful than not, and it was a good opportunity to see the area and make friends.
The crowd around the pair was thinning out. Absently, Vögelein gave her wings an experimental extra flex as she flew alongside Vivi(...'s hat). Yep, everything was still in order.
Haruhi was walking back to the house, still a little shook-up from the happenings a few days ago. She had finally gathered enough sense to go back home, after a few nights at one of the inns. She figured meeting this Vögelein from the journals would delay the inevitable; maybe even relax her a little.
Besides, she didn't mind meeting new people. That was one thing she was lacking since she came to this island-- other friends. It seemed like she spent the majority of her free time with her Senpai. Not that is was a bad thing... she just needed to expand her social circle. It's not like there was much to do here anyway.
When she arrived at the docks, she tried to look for the person that resembled the tiny picture in her journal. She couldn't find her. What she did notice, though, was a short little... person (?)... talking to what seemed like air.
As she kept pace with her new friend, Vögelein kept an eye on their surroundings - not only out of caution, but also because she didn't want to miss any of the sights in this possibly new and definitely strange place. It was for this reason that she noticed Haruhi as they came upon where she was standing, recognising... her? from the drawing in the magical book.
"Oh, Haruhi Fujioka!" Vögelein's pronunciation was not the best, but it was an unusual name and she had only ever seen it written. The one time she had, on the other hand, ensured that, short of unfortunate circumstance, she would remember it. It was not in her nature to forget things.
Flying partially the short gap between her recent acquaintances, she announced herself in the few rays of hazy sunlight that bounced off her wings. "Hello!"
Vivi was a little surprised when Vögelein seemed to recognize the new girl, but quickly figured out they probably met each other through the journals. Still a little nervous about strangers, Vivi stood further away from the two and waited for a bit. Dagger and Nill had said people were nice, and he believed them, but...caution never hurt anyone. He still remembered the way he'd been treated back home, after all.
He fidgeted a bit nervously, and eventually worked up his courage to follow Vögelein and walk toward the new girl, though he said nothing just yet, merely fidgeted nervously and adjusted his large hat.
"Hello." He wasn't brave enough to introduce himself yet, but he would be polite, at least.
Okay. This was just a little weird. She knew different kinds of creatures could come to the island (ie. the "eating of the bed" incident), but she felt like she fell into the rabbit hole again. Was she dreaming? There was a fairy fluttering in front of her, and a... a... it had glowing eyes, with the absence of a face.
"Oh. You must be..." she let her voice trail off in thought. Haruhi had only seen her name written in the journal, and she wasn't quite all that sure of how to pronounce it. Apologizing with an embarrassing giggle she said, "Ah, I'm not sure how to say your name."
Then her attention rested upon the fairy's companion. "Hello. I'm Haruhi. What's your name?"

"Pfeu-ge-line," Vögelein replied promptly, giving a warm half-smile, "But it's enough if you try." She had been encountering creative variations in the pronunciation of her name since she'd left with Alexi - more would be okay.
She looked on with interest as her two companions made introductions, preferring to watch than to interrupt. She didn't know much about either of them yet and it she might learn something new.
I also apologize. XDclumsymagusAugust 30 2009, 17:19:19 UTC
Vivi was a little surprised to be addressed directly, and so nervously shuffled for some time before he finally responded, his voice scarcely loud enough to be called a whisper.
"U-um...my name is Vivi." He tugged on his hat nervously, trying not to fidget. "It's nice to meet you." Despite his odd appearance, he was still very much a child, and face-to-face introductions made him timid and shy.
"Nice to meet you too, Vivi," Haruhi told the little person standing in front of her. Though he was a little odd, Haruhi did think he was cute. Shy, but cute. She couldn't help but give him a warm smile.
"Pfeu-ge-line," she repeated, her pronunciation a bit off still. It would take her a while to get used to saying it. With enough practice, she'd get it... eventually. Then, as she watched Vögelein fluttering about, she said, "You must be tired. Need to take a rest?" Haruhi held out her hand as an offering to the tiny fairy.

"Might we find a place with fewer people?"
