WHO: Bela Talbot [ms_delusive], Mary Winchester [theminor_fall] WHAT: Mary needs to get out of that nightgown, and into something stylish. Bela offers her services. WHERE: Harbor. WHEN: Day 23; Evening
By the time the ship had docked, Mary was feeling much calmer, and more like her old self. That boy, whoever he'd been who had taken the time to explain things to her, had helped her far more than he'd probably guessed. It wasn't unusual for the conversation to turn towards Mary's children, and just the reminder that even though they were with there father, they still needed her, was enough to push the fear back down where she could manage it until a more appropriate time. She had to get back
( ... )
The woman walking her away matched the portrait perfectly. A pretty young thing with golden hair and a dusty nightgown. She looked like she walked out of a horror movie. Somewhat frightening, yet radiant in the moonlight.
Bela did know beauty when she saw it. She always enjoyed the finer things in life.
Smiling, she pulled the dress out of the bag and held it up in front of the newcomer.
"Will this suffice?" She asked behind a mask of sweetness and innocence.
Mary reached to smooth her fingers along the dress slightly, before nodding her affirmation with a smile. It was dark blue, a favourite colour of hers, and one that certainly looked nothing like anything she owned. Something from Gone with the Wind, stylish, classy. If she was a little girl again, she was sure she'd have been thrilled for any chance to wear a dress like this.
"It's beautiful. It didn't cost you anything, did it?"
She took it from her and then looked around with a slight frown. She didn't want to move too far off the beach dressed like this, even though she now had company, but she didn't exactly want to change here and give a free show for the stragglers and anyone who happened to be walking by.
"...Um...Where exactly do you recommend changing?"
Giggling, she let the woman take the dress from her hands, and gawk at the fine material. It was all too Victorian for her tastes, but it was the native dress here - whatever here was. Bela much preferred her own outfit - a collared, white shirt, tight pants, and a fitted belt. It made her feel somewhat like a pirate. Appropriate, was it not? She liked dressed, but since the Ball incident - well, it wasn't easy to maneuver around in a ball gown.
"Hm? Oh! I have a place of my own a long walk from here. Well, I shouldn't call it my own." Bela smiled almost sincerely. "I share it with a few other kind gentlemen, but you may change there.'
While Mary logically knew that she couldn't wander around in a nightgown all day, she very obviously didn't come with any method of payment, and if the boy had been wrong and she'd actually had to pay for the dress...Well, she wasn't looking forward to finding out how she'd end up having to repay her. She seemed nice enough, but this place...It didn't sound like there were a lot of nice people here.
"That'd be great! I really appreciate all this, thank you." She folded the dress over her arm, allowed Bela to lead the way. Despite the fact that the walk was going to be a bit longer than she'd probably feel comfortable with, she'd have a privacy and a safe place to switch clothes in, and who could really complain about that?
"I'm Mary, Mary Winchester. It's nice to meet you. Properly, I mean."
