Lucy was going shopping. As usual with her excess money, actually, since her rent was much lower than at home. There were some cute native outfits she could wear that were fairly cheap in comparison to the ones back in Magnolia, and once she figured out the prices from the Queen's entry, everything went pretty smoothly.

Well, sans the summoning, but she was working on that. She could have sworn the gate to Plue has shimmered a bit, but it could have just been her imagination too. She skipped down the road, passing by a girl swinging on a fence, waving.

She waved back, giving her a smile. She recognized the face... Was she from the journals? Tucking the two bags under her arm, she walked over. "I don't think we've met." She managed to free a hand. "Lucy!"

Her new popularity rankings had to start somewhere, right?

Oh. That was strange. Every now and again a human would wave hello, but approaching her was almost unheard of. Then again, she hadn't been in the human world for quite some time now. Perhaps this was commonplace behavior, and she had to remind herself that she still looked like a child.

Riful shook the offered hand and tilted her head at the array of packages the girl had. Frivolous. For what reason would anyone need so many material things?

"It seems we haven't." Riful was all pleasantries. All smiles. "My name is Riful. A pleasure to meet you, Lucy."

The name reminded her of Luciela, which made her feel...a bit odd, actually. Nostalgic, perhaps. She and Luciela hadn't been friends in any sense of the word, but she had been an ally. Perhaps that was enough to stir up memories. She gave the girl and her bags another curious glance.

"You seem to have quite a few things there. Can you carry it all?"

It was a relief. There was something nagging at the back of her mind at the name Riful. East? No. South? No. North? No. West! West, that was it. Now what about the west and Riful...? She made a note to check the journals after cleaning and organizing her new clothes. "It's nice to meet you too, Riful."

Pleasant as always. It always paid to be nice, and it was annoying to be rude.

She gave the girl a sheepish look. "I don't buy more than I can carry." Which, was actually a lie because just last week she had a stack of packages soaring over her head and was lucky to actually get inside her house and have them tumble all over her landing there rather than outside where the fashionable clothes would be trampled by unwary passer-bys.

If only Cancer could just bring her some clothes, life would be so much easier.

What a pleasant girl she seemed to be. Riful appreciated polite behavior, especially with young women. It was just terribly upsetting when people were rude, spouting vulgarities and other such nonsense. There was really never any reason for it, in her opinion. Even enemies could be civil to one another.

"Lovely. I haven't met many people here in person, so I do treasure the meetings I have." She clapped her hands together. "Isn't it nice, to meet all these different people, from so many interesting worlds..." Riful trailed off and gave Lucy a quizzical look. All those packages? Unless she had some superhuman ability--and she smelled human, at least--the Abyssal One doubted carrying so many things was a simple task.

"Oh. Why do you have so many things, anyway? If you don't mind my asking."

It seemed like it was going to be a slightly longer meeting than she had first anticipated. Unlike others in her guild, Lucy had to stand being a normal-strength human with normal sensibilities and an excellent fashion sense (if she did say so herself!) so she set her packages down next to the fence, jumping up to sit next to Riful.

"Well, I need clothes to wear, don't I?" She smiled and turned her head to look at the girl. "And I need food." As if this made sense, with all the various clothing packages. Lucy justified herself by saying she was going to get food next anyway, so it only made sense. She raised a finger to emphasize her next point. "Fashionable clothes are essential to a good day and because you'll have a good day in nice clothes, you make a good impression on the people you meet."

A simple, on-the-spot proverb. Lucy was rather proud of herself.
