Laguna smiled and shook his head. "No, you didn't. I just got her a few minutes ago."

He still couldn't believe she was here. Alive.

It was why he was so awkward around her. Why he didn't keep so close to her. Laguna was afraid she would somehow leave him again. Not that the first time was her fault, but still. He couldn't bear to lose her a second time, really. Now or then.

"Are you hungry? Did you want to get something to eat first?" Laguna said, hoping maybe he could delay this conversation more. He honestly didn't know what to tell her and he was afraid he would tell her more than he should, or could.

"All right, well, that's good." She kept smiling, trying to make it less obvious just how unprepared she was for whatever they might say.

Why he was acting the way he was left her at a complete loss, and wondering whether she was somehow responsible. Granted, she didn't know the man very well - they were hardly "best friends". But still, the awkward silences and somewhat secretive actions made her wonder what was wrong. She hoped that if they spent more time together, the awkwardness would gradually go away. That was partly why she'd suggested this meeting, anyway.

"Why not? I've been walking around for awhile so I think eating would be nice. We can talk while we eat, also," Raine replied, still with a smile. Hopefully a conversation topic would come up at some point, or else the awkwardness would only get worse.

Laguna nodded and began walking to a cafe. "So, how have you been? Did you get that job you were applying for?"

Awkward or not awkward, he was still going to try and be polite and, hopefully, a little like how he used to be. Back when he tried to help her around the house and bar, keeping Ellone company.

Raine had forgotten about the job until Laguna brought it up. "You mean the teahouse job? I was supposed to meet with the owners but that didn't end up happening. I should follow up on that." She made a mental note to do just that. "Thanks for the reminder," she said while following him into a nearby cafe.

Turning her focus away from the scenery to him, she asked, "What have you been doing lately? You seem to keep busy; that's something I've had a problem with since coming here. Although a job would definitely help with that..." She trailed off into silence while waiting for a response.
