“I suppose,” the Italian replied, watching Yamamoto wind the bandages around his mutilated hands, feeling the pain stretch and ease as the wounds were finally tucked away under the folds. The binding was firm yet not too firm, just how he liked it. That way it would stay where it was supposed to for as long as he needed the bandaging in place and the blood would still have a chance to flow, letting the wounds heal themselves.

When the Rain Guardian was done with his first hand, he pulled it away and rested it cautiously on his lap, sighing slightly as he felt himself relax and unwind. His eyes fluttered slightly and his shook his head, trying to keep focused.

“I can make it m-” was what slipped out of him first upon being asked whether he wanted a cup of tea but - much to his own surprise - Gokudera found himself biting back on the remark and rephrasing it. “Uhh … yeah, thanks,” he muttered, still not looking directly at his companion. What the fuck was wrong with him?

Well, wasn’t the lesson going well today? It was quite endearing the way Gokudera slowly started to act like any other teenager would act around a friend. He seemed awfully embarrassed about it too. Yamamoto had meant what he said about understanding the other Guardian’s position as a lone wolf though. It would probably take a while before the pyromaniac learned to relax in the company of others and Yamamoto wasn’t going to blame him for it. Obviously, Gokudera’s life hadn’t been an especially happy story ( ... )
