The recent events had been too much on the acrobatic player. Saeki disappeared, followed by his best friend and then his Ochibi trailed not too long after. He couldn't keep up his usual cheerful nature. He was not used to such sadness

Oishi sat across from Eiji at the table, eyes echoing Eiji's thoughtful look. "It makes me sad, too." He let out a small sigh. "It's like... I feel like I didn't do a good enough job keeping an eye on everyone. Like I could have done better to keep everyone here."
This was one of the things Oishi was most upset about. He was the mother of the group after all. He felt like it was his job to keep the household in order, and to keep everyone safe. And he had failed.

"S-stop blaming yourself, Oishi! It's not your fault! I don't know if I'm glad or not that you... act like a motherhen sometimes but... you don't have to take responsibility for everything! Don't you think I was trying to keep everyone here too? Do you think that responsibility is only in your hands? You're not the vice-captain of Seigaku here... You're just Oishi! And..."
His voice was louder than it usually was, and more serious too. When he realized what he said, he turned his back on Oishi but did not move. "I... I..." He didn't know what he should say after that.
Oishi shouldn't have been as surprised by Eiji's outburst as he was. His friend was a particularly emotional person, especially when it came to his friends. But seeing Eiji take such a serious turn was still a substantial reality shock, and watching his friend turn his back on him stirred something in the vice-captain
