Jim was coming the other way, hands stuffed deeply into his pockets and Morph flitting around his head like an orbiting satellite. Recently he'd taken to wandering, mapping out the city with the soles of his overlarge boots; honestly, between his shifts at Bar Hades, there really wasn't anything better to do.

By now, he felt like he'd found every dead end road in Rivelata, and laughed once, sardonically, each time. He really couldn't remember ever being in a worse mood than the one he'd descended into since he'd arrived.

Jim didn't really notice the people around him as he walked anymore, though he wasn't deliberately avoiding them, and so he didn't pay attention to the spiky-haired boy at all.

Yamamoto couldn’t possibly have missed the youngster as he came walking towards him. It might have been the rather familiar asocial aura (for some reason the Guardian had more asocial than social friends these days) or just the fact that he seemed to be rather young but Yamamoto instantly got a feeling that he was a good person to ask for directions. Being over careful helped no one, right? He definitely didn’t feel like sleeping on the streets tonight.

“Ah, excuse me?” He gave the stranger a friendly smile. “I think I might have gotten lost. Could you please tell me how to get back to the market district from here?”

Sorry, Jim's powerless to reply until Morph's had his fun XD;; solarsurfed January 31 2009, 19:26:34 UTC
Jim blinked once as his vision focused on the boy in front of him, eyebrows just a little knit at the first person who'd ever broken into his own little world as he wandered; Morph reacted before he did, tearing out of his regular orbit to zoom right up to Yamamoto's face, twittering happily. Immediately, the levitating pink blob shifted into a miniature mirror-image of the spiky-haired boy, mimicking his facial expressions and movements.

"Morph--!" Jim chided, a shade of exasperation and embarrassment coming into his voice, and his pet shapeshifter dissolved into a fit of giggles.

One year earlier Yamamoto might have gotten surprised as the peculiar creature changed appearance in front of his eyes. These days very little surprised him and besides, the odd little being was rather amusing.
“ahaha don’t be mad at him,” he smiled even wider. “No harm done. I have a rather unruly pet myself.”

Of course, his pet was safely locked up inside the Rain Box he still carried in his belt. He hoped it was okay. Whatever made him unable to open to box couldn’t hurt the swallow, could it? Ah, if an animal created out of Dying Will Flame could get hurt. He actually didn’t know and since neither Lal nor Hibari was around he would just have to wait and find out.

Morph twittered happily and zoomed to Jim's face, obviously nuzzling him, and automatically Jim's hand came up and out of its pocket to the little thing in return; perhaps a smile tugged on one corner of his mouth, but perhaps not. If it did, it was a very private little smile, indeed.

"Yeah, unruly'd be a good word for him, that's for sure," Jim said in a voice that would have sounded like he was teasing his pet had he not been looking at a point directly behind Yamamoto's shoulder, or drawing Morph gently down until the blob slipped into his pocket with his hand. "Sorry about that."

He sighed with his ribcage and ran his fingers through his hair. "So, the market? Uh, you're pretty far away..." Jim trailed, mapping out the track from A to B in his head.
