Gun securely hidden inside his trousers, Mello waited for someone who might or might not be Matt, never letting his guard down. Oh, he had no doubts that the person he'd spoken to in his journal was his red-head friend, but the fact everyone else could read their entry was a great risk.
Four years. It'd been four years from the last time they'd seen each other, and Matt was still perfectly recognizable. Mello took a single moment to look at him, before he started walking. "Follow me."
It was a really awkward meeting between two friends who hadn't seen each other for so long, but finding a safer place was more important than sentimental crap.
"You don't know where you're going. Why don't you follow me?" He rolled his eyes and tapped his cigarette.
All right, well, a bit of a start. Mello obviously wasn't all that impressed to see him. Maybe I should have just told him Near was here and let it go at that.
Matt had to note that, of course, Mello's face lacked the scarring. So, he really was from a different time, just like Near. That made him thoughtful for a moment.
Mello stopped short, turning to face his old friend with a very unamused expression. He felt insulted - being underestimated wasn't something he appreciated - but he also guessed that Matt didn't know him at all. Hadn't the red head learned anything from their childhood days?
"Do you honestly believe I don't know where I'm going?" he said, predatory eyes piercing the other boy's, daring him to answer.
"You just got here, why would you know?" Matt straightened and stuck his cigarette in the corner of his mouth. "Don't act like such a prick. I didn't have to come here. I wanted to help you out."
