Sho took a deep breath.

This was going to be hard.

It still hurt. It still hurt a lot. Losing his heart had been one of the most terrifying experiences of his entire life. It had been worse than dying - and THAT had been absolutely horrible (crunch went his bones under the wheels of the train and oh god). He could still see Axel's face above his own, still feel Larxene's cold fingers sliding no no NO don't think about it

He'd gone willingly, but that didn't make it any better.

But Neku was right. This had to end and he had to tell Hanekoma.

"That son of a digit does bite," he said. "Harder than a Taylor series. You've just never seen his fangs."

That said, he stepped over the threshold and into the house.

How Hanekoma actually made a cup of coffee in the absence of any visible coffee makers was likely one of those mysteries that would destroy someones mind if they actually solved it.

Still, there he stood, leaning against the wall and enjoying the most sublime beverage known to man. The drink alone was enough to preserve his faith in humans no matter what. After all, any species that could create something like coffee had to have the spark of the divine within them.

Hearing the door open, Hanekoma turned and noticed both his would be protégé enter the house they shared. Saluting with his cup, the Producer decided not to comment on the fact that Sho looked like a cat about to be given a bath. He found people talked best when you didn't try and force it out of them. "Well well Phones, Mad Hatter, welcome home. To what do I owe the pleasure of your company?"

Neku glanced over at Sho, raising his eyebrows slightly. "Go on."

"God, where the factor do I start? I don't even know where the point of origin in this equation is..."

He sighed, finding a chair and sitting down, his legs spread apart. He put his chin in one hand, elbow on his knee, then shifted to the other hand, then leaned back, then sighed again.

"Look, ok, it starts... hectopascals."

He took off his hat and bandanna and ran a hand through his hair, shaking it out like a lion's mane.

"Point of Origin: as you know, I really, really don't like Joshua. My hate for him is a monotonically increasing unbounded function. That, and I used to... be pretty driven by power. I wanted to increase my value to the maximum limit, to basically become... well, god ( ... )

Hanekoma leaned back and listened to the story without interruption, calmly sipping his coffee as Sho poured out all that he had been through. As he spoke, the Producer had to revise his opinion of the ambitious young Reaper. Sho had always been brilliant, a protégée really, but introspection had never seemed to be one of his strong suits. To Hanekoma, he'd always seemed the type to push forward without much thought to consequences, trusting in his natural intelligence to carry him through ( ... )

Neku folded his arms and leaned against the door, listening to the awful details of Sho's story, and Mr. H's advice. When the two were done, he turned, eyebrows raised, to Sho.

"What do you think we should do, Pi-Face?"

Sho raised an eyebrow at Hanekoma's comment about art. "That's an... unexpected result," he said. Then he smirked. "But it seems to be valid, true, and positive."

He sighed. "Maybe, yeah. I think I just needed to get that data off my chest, too. Be careful, though. Check all your variables, run your solution through a few times."

"I... also think, soon, I'm going to... try to tell some of the higher numbers," he said. "Guys in authority."
