Once they got to the couch, Shin collapsed on it, so tired and dizzy it was hard to see straight. He felt even more like he was going to puke, but held it down, tying to steady his breathing.

After a moment or two, the room stopped swimming and he shifted his leg a bit, accidentally brushing the end of the large thorn in his leg against a cushion. White hot pain stabbed his leg and he hissed through his teeth, lurching forward, his hands grasping at the pain.

The sudden lurch wasn't very good for his stomach's predicament, however, and he slumped back, one hand over his mouth again, swallowing down bile.

He really, really hated Rivelata.

He stepped back once he'd gotten Shin down onto the couch, regarding him with a good deal of concern. What was he expected to do now? He built things, he didn't heal people. Hiruma would know if he were here.

He frowned at Shin's display of pain, frowned more to see the thorn in his leg, and finally shifted into something like alarm to see nausea apparently rising again.

His course of action was, for a few seconds, suddenly clear.

He disappeared from the couch for a short while, and when he appeared again he came bearing a waste paper basket. He sat it down next to the head of the couch, in easy reach, then moved to stand next to Shin's leg.

"This is where you were poisoned?" he asked, hardly needing an answer. It obviously was. And he was obviously going to have to get the thorn out of him, as well. Where was someone like that creepy nurse that tended to his father when you needed her?

He took a breath and reached down to place one hand firmly over Shin's leg, to steady it. "Hang on," he instructed, "This might hurt a little."

Shin snatched up the wastebasket, holding it against his chest. He was going to need it, judging from the unpleasant sensations coming from his digestive system.

He nodded in response to Musashi's question, even though he didn't need to. It made his head swim a bit, though, and he screwed his eyes shut against a strange head rush.

Shin braced himself for the pain, careful to hold the wastebasket gently so as not to crush it.

Musashi glanced once at the waste basket, knowing well that it had probably reached the end of its days. He made a mental note to find another one once the plants were gone, and turned his attention to Shin's leg.

He carefully pulled aside the cloth of his pant leg, rolling it up where he could and simply carefully arranging it where he couldn't. Finally, when he was ready, he pressed down hard, anticipating thrashing in one form or another. His other hand took hold of the end of the thorn, where it had broken off from the plant.

And then he pulled.

Shin made a loud sound of pain as the spine was ripped out of his leg, unintentionally crushing the wastebasket as he grasped it.

When the thorn was gone, however, the pain became less sharp. He could feel blood slide down his leg, warm and sticky.

After a moment, Shin realized that he had just broken Musashi's wastebasket, and said, voice rough and groggy, "...M'sorry." He would have to get Musashi a new one, once this was over.

He felt even sicker, now, though with the pain down he could finally relax fully, letting out a long, slow, steadying breath.

Yes, he definitely hated Rivelata.
