Peony bit on his lip as he scribbled in his journal, responding to a few diary entries and lastly responding to Dist that they had arrived back at the Inn ( ... )

"'Refreshed' is not exactly the word I would use to describe my current state... I think 'sweaty' and 'miserable' and 'aching' would be more appropriate."

Jade propped his chin up in the palm of his right hand and raised his other hand in a half-hearted wave towards in Innkeeper.

"You do realise", he continued, after ordering a bottle of wine, "That if you did not read the diary, you would not actually have to listen to Dist's whining. Although I have to grudgingly admit that I agree with you on the subject of Asch, Luke and Guy. I do not believe they can be trusted, at the moment. But then... this is Dist we are talking about..."

Dist grudgingly marched toward the Crimson Dragon, the cobblestone stinging his feet with each step. He would have much preferred to have taken his chair as transport, but without any fon energy he had little idea how to get it off the ground for more than ten seconds at a time- it hadn't even made it out the door this morning ( ... )

"If it isn't Dist the Reaper... the crowning glory of a day started with hours of forced jogging with, as only companion, an overly cheerful marathon-runner of an Emperor", answered Jade back, although his words were lacking in their usual biting undertone. He was obviously tired, and made a show of annoying Dist because it was, of course, the way things should be.

Dist walks in, Dist is unpleasant and whiny, Jade shoots back with a sarcastic comment. All is right with the world.

The Innkeeper finally made his way to the table with a bottle of red wine and glasses, which he sat in front of his three customers. Jade's eyes lit up as they fell on the label and the date that was much older than the swill they had drunk these last few days, maybe today wouldn't be a total waste after all.

"Hey, Guy." Peony couldn't fully disguise the unsettled expression on his tan face, and he prodded weakly at the food remaining on his plate with a fork.
The Emperor wasn't as hungry as he had originally felt, his stomach still queasy from the sickening rappig comment.

"I've talked to so many people, I can barely keep all the names and faces straight." A flash of annoyance as Jade began to flip through his journal, heat rising to his cheeks. "I know it's not private, but I don't need you reading every single thing I said to everyone." He hadn't mentioned anything terribly private, but there were times he was glad Jade didn't read or write in the diaries very often. "And there was no one that I can think of, at least off the top of my head. Some people here just have attitude, I didn't do anything to purposefully upset anyone. Aside from maybe, Dist or something."

Dist acknowledge Guy's entrance with a grumble, his mind lost in thought and not up to its usual theatrics. It had been a long time since he had seen the blonde swordsman- being on opposite sides and all.

"Oh I'm quite sure you've upset more than just ME since we've been here, Emperor," he added to Peony's statement with a tinge of jealousy to his voice. "It might be hard for someone as popular as yourself to believe people may not like you, but...just...think." He pressed his pale lips in a thin line, his arms still crossed. He hadn't touched his meat, it looked disgusting, and he wasn't in the mood for lunch right now. This whole situation had just...ruined the atmosphere.

Sometimes it really frustrated Dist how someone so naive could be so damn charismatic and well-liked. He felt all sorts of jealousy for the Emperor's popularity and general acceptance among his peers, but at the same time the smallest bit of pity. Friendly, naive people were always the sort to trust too easily. And get burned. This bit of knowledge made Dist ( ... )

Guy took the seat, trying to figure out what was going on. Sometimes he hated walking in on the middle of things, but what else was there to do, really?

"Wait, is this about the journals? Did something happen?" Even though for the first few days, he'd been rather obsessed with figuring out how those strange things worked, lately he hadn't even been paying attention to what was going on in them. He'd been too busy worrying about Ion, as well as all of the captured people.

"It seems that someone took control of Emperor Peony's journal to post rather distasteful comments. Fortunately, it could have been worse had the perpetrator actually attempted to pose as the Emperor... we want to figure out who decided to attack him through the journals, and more importantly why."

Jade flicked through a few more pages. Rappigs, rappigs, more rappigs.

"It seems that events are accelerating... the fighting at the Ball, the retaliation, the diary situation, the news that Ion is in Van's custody... events are accelerating and none of what transpired is any good."
