Now that the snake fiasco was over and done with, Kisa was allowed to advertise in front of Penelo's Pastries once more. Today the little girl wore a red and white dress, a parasol shading her as she handed out fresh cookies from her basket. Her Bearbee hovered about close by, a matching bow around its neck.

Seeing Haru, the little girl gave a wave.
"Haru-san? Are you alright?" Blinking up at her, she tilted her head curiously before offering her a cookie. "Would you like one? They're hot out of the oven!"

Haru looked up in suprise and offered the smaller girl a return wave.

"Hello, Kisa-chan!" She smiled brightly. "Everything is just...fine!"

Hopefully, Kisa wouldn't notice her small bout of depression. The cookie smelt delicious but...her heart just wasn't into eating it.

"No thank you! I'm kinda suppose to be on a diet to make up for---" she became distracted by the absolutely adorable bear-like thing floating next to the girl.

"Uwah~ your bearbee is so cute~~~ does it have a name?" She gushed.

Children were always so empathetic, the most innocent of creatures so attuned to their surroundings. Kisa was at the age where the adult world had crept on her, and she knew sometimes people lied when they didn't want to hurt the feelings of other people. So she giggled softly, letting it pass.

She gave the cookie to a passerby, receiving a thank you and a smile in return.

"I think its a 'she' because she likes to wear bows and sleep in my pile of petticoats." Kisa thought aloud, fluffing her dress to gesture at the layers of tulle beneath it that allowed it to flare out. "So I called her Momo because she fuzzy and soft and colored like a peach!"

Haru giggled. Kisa was so cute and sweet and she was a constant reminder of why Haru fought so hard to protect the innocence of little children.

"I see." Haru tilted her head and smiled brightly. "She matches your hair! You two are so cute together!"

Coming out of anyone else's mouth, the words may have seemed fake- but this was Haru, who couldn't fake anything if her life depended on it.

"Arigatou!" Kisa smiled, cheeks rosy as she ducked her head demurely. She was unused to compliments about her features since they were the object of ridicule back home.

"You haven't been feeling well, have you Haru-san? Your eyes are sad..." The girl looked up at her worriedly. "I'll go on my break now." Without letting her argue, the girl slipped into the store and set her basket down as she explained to her workmate.

Exiting a moment later, she gently held onto Haru's hand.
"Let's go walk for a little while. It's a lovely day and the sunshine will chase your sadness away."

"A-ah, how did you kno---" Her words trailed off and she found herself smiling sadly. That was right. Children, being the pure and innocent beings they were, were also the most receptive of beings to the emotions of others. It was what made them so strong and yet weak to the taunts of others, all because they could feel it much more deeply than any teenager or adult ever could.

Squeezing Kisa's hand gently to show her thanks, her smiled brightened a tad and she gestured to the path before them with her free hand.

"If the lady wishes to show the way?" She giggled.

"Of course!" Kisa smiled, looking around herself to gain her bearings before leading Haru down the main thoroughfare of the Market District. The smells of baked goods, soups, sweets, fried foods and fruit filled the air before fading as the boutiques came into view.

"I think I'm mostly used to everything now. People here are willing to help." The little girl shared wisely. "There are bad people of course, but there are plenty of kind people too. Both newcomers and natives."

The Boutique Avenue was lined with glamorous shopfronts all showcasing extravagant, eccentric and of course, expensive wares. Accessories, hats, shoes, clothes, furniture- all were available for those with a deeper pocket ( ... )

Already, Haru could feel her heart lifting slightly just by walking down the streets with such a sweet girl with such a wonderful heart. It was still hurting a little- after all, her list of contacts and friends were slowly dwindling to the point where she was afraid she too would vanish and no one would ever miss her absence. She smiled ( ... )

It took her a moment or two to put together Haru's intent. Then her tawny-golden eyes widened in realization.
"Oh! Oh Haru-san, no no! I couldn't possibly-" She was cut off as she was tugged inside. Her cheeks were rosy with embarrassment.

The inside of the jewelry boutique glittered and glowered, hundreds of gems catching the noon sunlight. Kisa covered her mouth daintily as she gasped, eyes large with wonder.

"Ah..." She breathed, looking around as though too fearful to move. Never before had she seen such finery back home. Her cousin Ayame was far more suited to the glamorous life. Unconsciously she squeezed Haru's hand.
