WHO: Kikumaru Eiji (theflexiblecat), Fuji Syusuke (theartofsmiling) WHAT: Fuji turns to his best friend when he's lost. WHERE: The park. WHEN: Night of Poison Ivy-induced euphoria; extremely backlogged
Eiji was surprised when he saw that he was writing in his journal unconsciously. All he could remember was touching some strange chemical in the journals and then everything was blank. Well, he still felt a strange overflow of happiness though.
Later, Fuji suddenly asked seriously if it was okay to have a talk. That made Eiji confused. It was rare for Fuji to be like that. But still, he knew that, as the honey-haired boy's best friend, it was his duty to help him when he has to. And now was one of those times.
He jogged lightly towards the park when he noticed lightning appear in the sky. Is it going to rain? He wondered. Well, it didn't matter to him, because he was on his way to the park to help his best friend. And not even rain can stop him.
A few minutes later, he arrived at the park. Looking around, he spotted his best friend using his excellent vision.
Fuji didn't expect anything less of the redhead when he came bouncing towards him. He lifted up his hand. He did a tiny wave. He could feel the smile tugging a little too hard at the corner of his lips. "Over here, Eiji~" Always the cheerful one, always upbeat, never affected. At times, he was jealous of his best friend.
Another unpredictable flash of lightning, then thunder rumbled. Fuji's smile never faltered. Just like the weather, he had never seen this coming. Developing feelings for his kouhai? No way. Falling for him? Never in a lifetime. But he was Fuji, right? He usually had a back-up plan. Tonight, he had brought along his Seigaku jacket that he had on upon arrival.
He shot a quick glance at the night sky tinted with hues of magenta. So strange, that it should resemble sunset before the storm. "Saa, do you think it's going to rain?" He wouldn't worry too much, though. Like the jacket, Eiji was his emergency back-up plan. And he couldn't say how glad he was to have him.
Eiji smiled. His best friend was acting like usual, his smile on his lips, though, Eiji noted, it was a little forced.
He was about to say something when thunder interrupted him. He looked at the sky. Dark clouds loomed and were slowly gathering together. It was like a bad omen.
Ignoring it as best as he could in favor of talking to his best friend, who suddenly commented about the weather. He was confused at first but then answered as casually as he could as he turned to look at the sky, "Maybe. The weather is unpredictable nya..."
He then turned back to Fuji with a grin on his face. "Just like you are sometimes."
Taking a seat beside Fuji, he asked, "So, what do you want to talk about?"
Fuji made no visible response at the remark regarding his personality. "Don't worry. I brought along the Seigaku Regulars' Jacket~"
Perhaps Eiji had known so much more about him than he would ever appear to know. Perhaps, even better than he knew himself. Almost exactly like how he had found out now. Had he been as easy to read as an open book? Fuji chuckled inwardly. The redhead ought to receive more credit than this. He could fix the one problem Fuji Syusuke couldn't, not with a smile.
Fuji was tired of being at a loss. Before this, he was always on the giving end, always in control. But this - this was beyond anything he had foreseen. Sure, they would end up closer than before. Sure, they might become best friends and confidantes. Now?
And because of everything else, he would tell the absolute truth this time, despite warning lights flashing dangerously in his head. Without a second thought about consequences. What Eiji might do. How Ryoma would feel. Why did you let your guard down, Fuji? Tezuka'
