Mohinder was soaked, quite literally. His clothes were sticking to him as he walked through the streets of Rivelata and they were starting to feel heavy on his body, but he barely noticed. He just felt so overwhelmingly happy that nothing else really mattered!
It should have raised some suspicions, this sudden euphoria, but to be perfectly honest Mohinder hadn't truly been this happy in ages. Not only was it an enjoyable experience - to say the least - but it allowed him some sort of optimism... maybe things were really turning around!
And Rudy... poor, misunderstood Rudy. There was no reason why they couldn't be friends again! Not when everything was going so well! Sylar didn't know what he was talking about... Rudy was different, and he made Mohinder laugh, and Mohinder deserved some damn laughter after all he had been through lately.
Mohinder brushed a few soaking wet curls off his face and rose up on his tip-toes, looking for that familiar form through the rain... "Rudy!" he called out and waved, a huge grin plastered on his
He might have been suspicious of the sudden euphoria, but having just survived the hallucinations from the fear toxin, Rudy was eager to welcome the feeling. And why shouldn't he be glad? He had friends here, he had his brother, and he had pretty, pretty, cold rain!
"Mohie!"
He was glad Mohinder had found him - otherwise he might have been hopelessly lost. In this state, he was prone to getting easily distracted. Rudy had never thought he was capable of childish squealing. But here he was, jumping up and down in the rain and waving at the soggy Mohinder, a broad, beaming smile on his face. Rudy hurried over and pulled Mohinder into a hug, not minding the wetness at all.
No sooner had he seen Rudy across the street than he found himself being squished into a tight hug. Even in his euphoric state, Mohinder still managed to be awkwardly unsure of what to do, his arms pinned to his sides by Rudy's tight grip.
"Um, hi!" Something in the back of his mind was screaming at him that this was ten thousand kinds of wrong but the chemicals were still strong enough to overpower any sort of logical thinking process he would normally have... at least, they were strong enough because Mohinder was letting them be strong enough.
He pulled away, still smiling, and pushed his hair back again. "I told you it was nice out here! It's been far too long, Rudy. We were so silly for letting all that other nonsense come between us!"
Rudy relinquished the soggy geneticist, standing instead with his hands in his pockets, grin still on his face.
"We were silly, weren't we! We'll be silly if we ever let it get between us again!" Rudy said, before straightening his back, clearing his throat, and spouting poetry with a regal, almost English, and yet almost sing-song voice. It was a fitting poem he'd found in the recesses of his mind, and he was glad the chemicals had fished it out for him.
"When that was, the soft mist Of my regret hung not on all the land, And I was glad for thee, And glad for me, I wist."
