"--No! There, darlingest Elphie, I must prove. You. Wrong!"

Glinda jumped gaily up onto the ruined of the fountain, the click of her heel on stone giving a sweet pitch.

"No matter where where you've been or what the future may bring
To keep your chin up, remember one essential thing:
No matter if it's winter, summer, autumn or spring,
Even in Rivelata we can open up and sing!"

The music that always seemed to be there with every breath she took in life sped up, becoming bright and cheerful, and Glinda shot a smile into the milling crowd. They were already garnering attention.

Sharpay was wandering the streets of Rivelata for any signs of employment or anything that didn't look absolutely disgusting and horrendous -- her eyes narrowed at the Les Bijioux storefront. Obviously there was something going wrong there if they didn't want HER. Ugh! Honestly. No taste at all.

Ohhhh, but there was that girl from the journals with the beautiful pink dress and nice hair singing on the fountain! And Sharpay couldn't just let them show her up!

She smiled brightly at the crowd, pushing up to the fountain and stepping between Elphaba and Glinda, throwing her arms out.

"This place has no taste and the people are so drab
But at least I'm here to make it all way fab
Dist took me in and I guess Ryan's okay
And maybe a little song can change up the wayyyyyyyy~"

Ryan spotted his sister in the crowd and blinked. This was really just like East High, what with the singing in the lunchroom and while playing baseball. Not that he really minded, of course. But he really hadn't prepared anything. Oh well, he would have to make due.

"Hey, what's up Sharpay?
This is just like home, though the voices are weird
And oh my gosh, I think that girl has a beard.

I'm okay, as you say but we've got to find the way
Back hooooooome.
As much as right here I feel I am dear
There's simply no place like hoooooome."

Well. That wasn't too bad.

The pink haired girl had only come to the market to do a bit of shopping when suddenly three of the women standing nearbye burst into song and jumped onto the ruined fountain.

It shocked her to the point of stumbling back a bit, as she'd been standing so close and it really was quite a surprise, but she soon righted herself and stared at them for a moment before skating past the rest of the crowd to stop right before the fountain. She looked to them all inquisitively, then decided to play by their rules and joined in the song with a bold and dramatic gesture.

"What's that? Oh my! A sudden burst of song!
In a place like this so dark and sad it just cannot belong
It's strange, it's odd, but can it be so wrong?
I guess the only way to find out is to try and sing along!" She turned to the rest of the crowd at the last line, as if challenging them to join in.

Glinda jumped down from the fountain with a giggle and did a twirl. This was how life was supposed to go.

"When we sing altogether, everything's alright,
Even in Rivelata, the sun will shine bright--"

She left the verse for Elphie to finish as she skipped around a pile of rubble.

The pink was encroaching around her, along with it, Glinda's infectious sunshine. And now, the people of Rivelata were singing! Singing! For what looked like a large green bean with legs and terrific bone structure, Elphaba hopped up gracefully, twirling in her black skirts like a gymnast completing a turn.

"Even when the sun creeps low for dark night,
We could still have hope within our sight!"

Elphaba took the last word as an opportunity to use her powerful lungs, if only briefly.

The music rose - a homeless man in the corner of the square had begun playing his guitar enthusiastically with them. A child, too, has started beating on barrels, creating a set of drums. Glinda took the hands of an even smaller child and began skipping around with him in a circle, giggling.

The street was slowly starting to come alive.
