Yuffie had been sitting in her room at Zelos and Kagari's house trying to relax. She had been meditating earlier and was probably going to fall asleep. Healing took a lot out of her, even if it was something she had been good at back home, it still made her ache and her bones felt as bad as the little old magic users in Wutai used to complain about with their old materia-less tricks that had captured her imagination as a little girl. But despite the feeling that she was going to crash she had decided to check her journal to see if anything was going on she should know about. This was a place where the world could change in an instant and ( ... )

Cloud was lost again.

If they were back in Radiant Garden (or Hollow Bastion or whatever the hell they were calling it now), if they were back home, Cloud knew this would be different. He would hurt, of course he would hurt, but he wouldn't feel as horribly tormented as he did now.

The dead were known to come back to Rivelata, but without any memories of being here before. It almost made the death mean nothing... and Cloud wasn't sure he could deal with that. How could Leon's death ever amount to nothing? And even if he did come back, what if it wasn't Leon that appeared? What if it was just a Squall from another world? Then Cloud really would be the only one left from Radiant Garden ( ... )

"I wanna go home too." She said quietly, not sure what to say or do to make this better. In fact, she didn't think she could make this better even if she knew the right thing to try ( ... )

"I guess we bury him... or burn him..." But those were just physical, obvious things. He knew the second meaning to that question -- but he didn't feel there was any need to answer.

Actually, Cloud found that he couldn't stop thinking about home. All those years the six of them grew up together. He remembered how each one of them had their own certain role, their certain place, and how Squall had always been their silent leader. And, amusingly enough, how Cloud sometimes followed him around when they were still very young. Squall had always felt like an older brother to Cloud; from the days when they used to play in the garden together to the days they fought Heartless together ( ... )

Yuffie closed her eyes tight, trying to fight crying. It was quickly becoming a losing battle as she watched Cloud begin to talk to the dead. And what if he was right? At least when Aerith had come back and had not known her, she would eventually. That had hurt, but she had been able to tell herself that in a few years, the girl would be brushing her hair in an inn, telling her about charms little children made out of flowers for wishing, and helping her get over a dumb cold she picked up after hours in the rain. When she had people from Cloud's world, they remembered her, maybe without the same memories, but still. They knew her ( ... )

Yuffie was not easily surprised anymore, after dealing with the Jenova war and Deepground and she was a bit too on her guard for things to jump out and shock any reaction from her. At least that was what she had thought before coming to Rivelata. There seemed to be something trying to throw her off every five seconds. And this was no exception ( ... )

Cloud was surprisingly comforting. He held her closely as she cried, let her tears soak his shoulder, even gently rubbed her back a little and told her that it would be alright. That things would be fixed, and that they would do back to the way they were before they broke ( ... )
