The meeting place was the same, because there was no reason for either of them to give away any more information than was necessary. It was a very silent partnership between the two, for now at least - who knew how that would change when Schwarz was reunited? Nagi was determined to put aside as much of his personal grudges as he could if it meant getting Schu and Faru back tonight.

They were independent enough individuals (now, in Nagi's case, since he'd been forced to become that way) that they could simultaneously operate side-by-side without interfering in the other's business. They each had their means of traveling across town and removing obstacles in their path ( ... )

"The most likely places are government-owned or seemingly abandoned buildings throughout the city. In my previous nightly sweeps of the housing district I've seen no evidence of Rivelata natives at all, which would mean the soldiers can't be holding them there. We can safely assume they aren't being held there. I have a map-- " he produced it for Nagi to see, "with the buildings that are most likely to hold them marked with red Xs. We'll move from the castle outward clockwise. Moving to avoid attention by the rooftops, we should be able to cover all the places by 2 AM at the latest ( ... )

Nagi kept up with his temporary partner by pushing himself through the air with his telekinetics. Ironic that if Zach hadn't tried to trap Nagi, the Prodigy would not have the power he did now to manage flight.

Indeed Nagi did have the map memorized just as soon it was shown to him. It was a fair number of targets for a search on foot - rather than at his computer, as he was accustomed - but Nagi didn't mind tonight. The search at the castle had turned up nothing save the fact that Schu and Faru had been moved and both of Nagi's means of locating them had failed. A foot search would be the only way.

It started to occur to Nagi what might have caused the man to react so strongly to a mere scream and it also amused him that the man used 'Clark' with his own team-mates - someone named 'Claire', a 'Max' that was not responding, and a 'Hiruma' that was not in the link. Nagi took note of that, assured it would prove useful at some point in the future.

Just as they'd finished searching the area around the clinic (*IX*) and were heading ( ... )

As the explosions began, Bruce almost immediately shifted footing, carefully and quickly selecting the quickest and most efficient route to the best cov-- Well. It seemed he didn't need to. Whatever reservations about working with the young assassin he might have had-- and still have-- Nagi was quite useful sometimes. Though his skill set was a little... unexpected, compared to those of most assassins from Batman's world ( ... )

When the first bomb had hit -- Farfarello wouldn't discover until much later that the Shisengumi had turned Rivelata into an anarchist's wonderland -- The important thing was that it was a loud distraction that rocked his makeshift prison's walls and was the ~chance~ he'd been waiting for. Now, with the guards lying dead behind him -- puppets with their strings cut, they'd been surprised by the knife he'd hidden under his tongue -- Farfarello had taken taken his chance ( ... )

Even over the sounds of people running the streets, wooden fortifications crumbling beneath the explosions, and general destruction of the city... it was impossible to miss Farfarello, the man who - instead of stopping to smell the roses - stopped to stab people with needle-sized knives that could be hidden under the tongue ( ... )
