11:59. Yuuri arrived at the gates, slightly out of breath and more than a little nervous. He didn't have anything to wear other than his uniform, but that had been good enough for the residents of Shin Makoku, so there was no reason it wouldn't work here. He was escorted in quickly by himself (they certainly weren't going to allow Wolfram in with him) and tried to memorize the walk in, just in case he needed to find the way out.

He eventually was led to the courtyard and left alone. Yuuri didn't see any of the other people who had been listed on the announcement and wondered if he'd have to go through the whole thing by himself.

He gave a little wave to the woman working in the garden and waited, hoping the Chancellor wasn't as intimidating as his journal entries made him sound.

"Is something the matter, sir?" the woman commented as she moved towards the young man; she was easily twice his age, but her tone was definitely polite and not demeaning in the slightest.

She left her hands at the sides of her body as she smiled at him again. "You seem awfully nervous..." She indicated the bench on her right and his left, "Would you care to take a seat? I find that can help me relax."

"Oh no!" Yuuri smiled, trying to alleviate her worry. "I guess I was just wondering where everyone else was." Grateful, he took a seat on the bench.

After looking around once more at the courtyard, he turned back to the woman. "My name is Shibuya Yuuri by the way, sorry to bother you."

"The chancellor said your meetings are to be held individually, are they not? Therefore any of your companions will not be joining you." She tried putting a hand on his shoulder, for a little bit of reassurance. "You are also no bother at all to me. You may call me Ashire."

Punctuality was a good quality of Edward Cullen. He was never late. And this was certainly no exception, even if he did have to convince Bella that he and Alice wanted to do this entirely on their own and that they would be perfectly fine ( ... )

She noted his frown and gave a small pout herself. "Does something trouble you, sir?" She smiled again though, "If you are worried the Chancellor has forgotten about you I assure you that that is not at all the case."

Physically at least, she looked around twice his age, however she did not speak down to him as if he were a child; she was frank, but formal.

Edward shook his head simply, lifting a pale hand to brush through his copper-toned hair. "No, nothing is troubling," he replied, his voice calm and collected as though he honestly believed there was no reason to be nervous over such a meeting that was to come. "I am just unused to people speaking to me so openly." He shrugged softly, tilting his head before he glanced back over at the woman.

Most people stayed away from him. Intimidated. But he didn't mention that; it may not have been a wise idea of something to say. "Ah. I doubt the Chancellor has forgotten. I can wait as long as I have to." Perhaps the wait was a test of some sort. He was un-acquainted with the strange politics of this place; if they put people through tests to judge, he would not be surprised.

"You have not been kept waiting at all in fact, Master Edward. I am Chancellor Ashire Mihamocha Nachitah and it is a pleasure to finally make your acquaintance." She bowed to him and then gestured to the bench. "Would you care to take a seat? I am certain there is much more we can discuss in person now - such as the nature of how you acquired your long life."

This was one person who was neither intimidated nor frightened by him and in fact appeared to want nothing more than to get to know him better.

Alice was a great deal happier with her situation, she wasn't hungry, she had managed to find something acceptable to wear and had managed to clean up rather nicely she thought. The cloths here were quite nice from what she had seen, when everything else was done she wanted to take Bella to get her dolled up. It would be qutie fun.

She was very pleased to find that they had both been allowed this meeting, from what she had heard this queen was a very interesting young girl and any red tape she had to go through seemed like it would be an equivalent exchange. This chancellor didn't seem too bad either from what she had seen.

As she was let in she smiled at the guard nicely enough, and looked around, the place was beautiful no doubt.

She looked over at the woman and smiled at her too.

"It's no trouble what so ever!" She said kindly. "The garden is beautiful, and I'm sure the chancellor is very busy, so I'm alright."

"Ah ha, I am glad you are enjoying the gardens," the woman replied cheerfully as she moved towards the young lady.

Her smile broadened as she indicated a cobblestone path. "Perhaps you would like to walk around a little? The Chancellor is not so much busy as very cautious, you see, for the sake of Her Majesty, of course. Surely you have been in a similar situation before?"

She didn't speak as if to a child, but rather to another woman, yet maintained formality all the same.

"I would love to!" Alice brightened visably at the idea. The flowers were beautiful and it seemed like a good way to pass the time.

"Somewhat of a similar case, yes." She thought of her people's leaders in Italy and how long it took to see them without a special case like hers had been the last time she had seen them.

"I can understand where they are comming from, very easily in fact. Without the neccicary precautions then there is a very large possibilty that something could perhaps go wrong." She said calmly stooping to look at a particularly pretty flower. It had been a long time since she had felt entirely comfortable outside in front of other people, between her skin and the nature of what she was it was not the most common thing for her.

"What sorts of precautions are you familiar with?" She asked while they walked, looking straight down at Alice and examining her while Alice was turned away. Her face became much more serious without Alice looking at her. "Is that something your brother is as familiar with as you are, Miss Alice? Or is he without such miraculous powers as you possess and you are in fact of a higher rank than he?"

Now, she was fully expecting Alice to round on her in confusion, so she smiled quite broadly and waited.

Sakamoto was late. He ran on his way to the castle so he obviously wasn't in his most presentable state. He paused when he saw the guards, smiled, and pretended to be calm. He was good with pretending to be calm, it's one of the things you learn when you trade with so-called terrorists.

The garden didn't make him feel any better. Sure, it was a lovely garden, comfortable and airy. But the stone walls and the guards everywhere? It lacked freedom, and Sakamoto was a man who valued freedom the most. He found himself immediately thinking of an escape plan as he sat down on one of the benches and whistled a happy tune. It took a while for him to realize that he wasn't alone in the room.

Standing up quickly, Sakamoto bowed as low as he could. "I'm sorry for being late, Ma'am! And I apologize for not noticing you earlier. I don't know how I could miss such as lovely sight such as yourself."

She laughed heartily then. "Oh my but that is funny." She made her way over to the man and inspected him from head to toe, crossing her arms over her chest. "Are you always so unobservant?"

"Not really," Sakamoto said with a laugh. "I apologize. I was a bit preoccupied with my thoughts. My shop-assistant has been having some problems regarding someone affected with the recent blood curse and I can't help but worry with him." He touched his head and remembered that he still had his hat on. He tapped it off and held it close to his chest. "But then, I trust the boy. He's a bit wild, but I'm sure he's the type who'll stop at nothing to help the ones he care about."

"Sakamoto Ryouma, ma'am, humble shop owner and self-proclaimed neutral member of the society, at your service," he said with a more composed bow.

"Oh you're a shop owner here? What sorts of things do you sell at your shop? And you... place that much faith in a young boy to run your shop? How interesting, Master Sakamoto..."

She sat on the bench as if to contemplate his words, staring out into the garden with her legs crossed and her hands on her knees. "How very interesting, indeed..."

It was definitely an invitation to continue speaking with her.

Jade arrived scrupulously on time. Not one minute early, but not one minute late either.
He strode through the halls with his hands in his pockets and the look of a cat that had gotten the cream, or the mouse, or something equally delightful.

Truth be told, he didn't even really notice the guards. As long as they were armed with conventional weapons, and not those long range guns he considered them inconsequential.

"I'm here to meet with the chancellor, yes", he answered while making his way to the closest bench, sitting down and crossing his legs casually.

"You are not the type to indulge in casual conversation to pass the time, are you? At least, you do not seem that way to me." She walked over and leaned against the wall next to the bench. "A military man, correct? Are you the type to seek out a problem and deal with it in the most direct and efficient manner possible?"

"That's why they pay me a sizable salary."

He turned towards the woman and smiled, a smile that did not reach his eyes.
"I assume you are the Chancellor? I am Colonel Jade Curtiss, 3rd Malkuth Army Division. But you know this already and I am only going through the motions of amiability because they are expected in such situations. What I am currently interested in is what you might not know about some of the people who came to see you today."

(ooc: Apologies for the late reply, I just returned from hiatus.)

Well, that made things easier if not a little awkward; no one else had seen through her so quickly.

She nodded and smiled pleasantly, outwardly appearing quite unruffled. "I am indeed the Chancellor. As for the other people I have and will be interviewing... what is it you wish to tell me about them?"

His word was as good as anyone else's, but it would certainly reflect on him what it was that he chose to tell her.
