The rustle wasn't very well concealed, but it stopped after a moment.
Then it started again, seeming to come from a completely different direction.
Finally there was a fierce rustling of branches and leaves from above as Kagari descended with her razor-sharp extensions on her arm-guard ready to slice into Zelos.
She was a flurry of green cloth, white hair, and tan skin. She was just under six feet tall and wearing high-heeled boots despite the environment, which she seemed completely comfortable in. White ears flattened against her head, green-grey eyes menacing, and fangs bared, she was now a guardian of Zikhadhara's domain, fully intent on ripping to shreds whoever dared enter the jungle without offering their loyalty first.
There was an incoherent screech first and then a very loud scream. "TRESPASSER!"
She did not recognize him, for she had never seen him before... except on the pages of her journal.
She seemed to have fell from the sky itself, like a bolt of lightning. He gasped quietly, his head whipping around to catch her gaze.
It was her. Kagari.
Although her appearance and ferocity was worrisome, he was thrilled nevertheless. There she was, standing before him, beautiful and deadly as a dagger, her figure illuminated by moonlight.
He raised his hands slowly in a gesture of peaceful intentions.
"Kagari... it's me. Zelos, your boi," he offered, his heart pounding.
At first his words didn't register and it looked like she really might harm him, her weapon heading straight for a strike across his chest from shoulder to hip.
But as their eyes met, recognition crossed her face. Her fist unclenched and the blades moved back to rest against the armguard.
She fell slowly, then, ears gradually flicking back up and ferocity giving way to anxiety. Both hands flew backwards and she practically jumped in the air, landing a few feet away from him.
Standing up straight again in the darkness, her gaze moved from his feet all the way up his body and finally back to his eyes again, all the time wary... timid... frightened.
There was a tense silence for a moment before Zelos responded, hopefully.
"Kagari, we've spoken before many times, but we've never met. I would never wish harm upon you," he said, choosing his words carefully. "So please, don't see me as a threat."
He stepped towards her slowly, deliberately taking care to tread softly in the grass so as not to startle her with quick movements. He lowered his hands to his sides.
