Dear Diary:
We found the corpse of one of my Royal Prostitutes in the river today. It looks like she bled to death from an abortion gone wrong. Apparently she tried to scrape the fetus out herself with a hook and shredded herself.
This is such a great tragedy.
Now I have to go out and find another prostitute.
I SUPPOSE I could order my secret police to go to a nearby village and raid it for the prettiest virgin, and claim it’s for the good of the country because a dragon demands a sacrifice. But I am lazy and hate to do things for myself. Someone looking at you Mr. Secret Police should do it for me.
I’m tired from dealing with the royal surgeons. I had to order them to dissect the body until they could collect the royal fetus to have it enshrined in the family crypt. It would have been my little heir maybe. Well no. The child of a whore can't be the future king! But he could have been the servant of a child brought on someone of reasonable heritage.
I thought about perhaps implanting it into another girl, but my physicians assured me it was quite dead and would just rot and cause some other girl to die. I think we should have tried! I’ll be getting a second opinion on that, thats for sure. Death to them if they lied to me!
So, down to royal business, how shall I oppress my people today? What laws restricting their freedom can I create?
