I had a moment of either slight cowardice or wisdom and decided to get dropped off by car at the library instead of walking both ways to the farmer's market. Except I'm not sure I shaved any distance off: the farmer's market might in fact be midway between my house and the library. Oh, there is no worry about that. It's actually impossible for me to harm myself by overdoing it. The surgeon has been very clear about that. The only ways I could harm myself now are two: one is by doing something that could harm me at any time, and the other is by failing to straighten, flex, move, and bear weight with the leg. If I didn't exercise it, the muscles could contract or atrophy and I could be even worse than before. I'm actually past that point now, though I suppose until I've gotten full range of motion in the leg, I'm still in some danger of not getting it.

So when I talk about overdoing it, I'm just venting about the discomfort. Which I get more and more of the farther I get from surgery because I keep doing things I haven't done yet since before surggery. Well, and also, I still have the other arthritic knee! I keep forgetting that part.
