I get news feeds from Reuters and BBC.  They like to repost certain stories over and over without much change in the content, I don't know why: maybe to keep them from falling off the front page.

This weekend they're all for giving free publicity to the latest venomous lies spewing from that heroine of free enterprise Angela Merkel.  Angela Merkel

Wow. Ethnic cleansing embraced by the leadership of a major European democracy. Every now & again I find myself reflecting that for all we do this badly in the USA, Europe makes a far bigger hash of it. There is a legacy of decency from the waves of reform in the USA, starting with Abolitionists, that is still with us, despite all falling back. The major European states do not seem to have made as extensive reforms and so are returning to old, bad habits. Germany, with its horrific history of ethnic cleansing and its fifth-generation resident non-citizens has, of all European states, has no excuse for such talk.

I wonder what German bigots make of the conservative African-American Obama?
