LJ Idol - Topic 0 - Introduction to Risingtofall

Oct 09, 2009 14:48

A couple of things you should know about me, is that I’m a dreamer, a big kid at heart, and I love getting to know people. I like their stories, where they’ve come from, where they’re going, what experiences they’ve had, their success, their failures - everything. I’m just genuinely interested in people. Like putting together pieces of their ( Read more... )

Thanks! I really wish they did too. Although here on the East Coast I think people are more relaxed with that kind of thing as most people I know had the same experience as I did. Sadly I know that isn't the case for a lot of people.

And thanks! Good luck to you too!

Hi there neighbor! I live in Massachusetts, but quite a way from Rhode Island but hey, I can dream about the ocean, can't I?

I'm in the Berkshires...as far northwest as you can get without going into Vermont!

Hi, Josh! This post really struck a chord with me. So much of what you said I identify with a lot. Especially the fact that you're a dreamer. I've always considered myself much the same.

It's wonderful that your family and friends have been so supportive of who you are. I wish more families and friends could be that way. :)

You seem like a very interesting person. I can't wait to read more of your entries!

Thank you for your nice comments. You know it's kind of weird, I can't remember the last time I had to write something introducing myself that wasn't on a personal add, so it's like I'm "coming out" again to the LJ idol folks.

Side note: I LOVE your icons. One thing I left out of my intro was that I'm really into different parts of histroy. Egypt has always been one of my favorites.

I'll be on LJ nine years this November, and I'd never heard of LJ Idol until partway through last season. Really enjoyed your intro. Best of luck this season!

Thanks! It's crazy to think that we have nine (eight in my case) years here on LJ. Kind of scary too that unless you've locked most of it, anyone can go back and read about the last 9 years!

Good luck to you too!

hi there! you seem kind of awesome. just wanted to say that. :)

I have more or less been coming out little by little for the past couple years, and have also been pleasantly surprised by the amount of support I've received, especially from my parents and closest friends. I think I was overly nervous about it because I'm bi and didn't want to invite a whole bunch of stupid stereotypes into my identity, mainly because I'm pretty much the antithesis of all those assumptions.

anyway! enough of my life story apparently!

hahaha did you miss the part where I love hearing about peoples life stories??

That is great though having the support of your parents and friends. Honestly, once you have their support who cares about the rest. But I completely hear you about getting labled with stereotypes and all that. Part of the reason I was in the closet for as long as I was, was that I thought I might be wrong about being gay. On one hand, I was attracted to guys, but on the other, I didn't identify with any of gay people I knew or saw.

lol yes, I apparently blocked that part from my memory. and/or don't often think my life story is particularly interesting?

I completely know what you mean! I still don't really identify with the queer girls I meet. I'm not super femmy OR butch, I don't hate men/society/colour/meat, I'm not really screwed up or bitchy. I'm pretty normal actually, except I like girls as well as boys. go figure!
