Mmmm fresh baked bread. I think I would find that even more tempting than some of the cakes.

OMG CHOCOLATE FESTIVAL. You must report back.

(LOL I always use this icon when replying to your entries it seems).

I've eaten so much bread these past few days, and we're starting rich breads this week so it's bound to get even worse.

But of course! I've been going for the past four years and I always make sure to write it up. You can find my past entries in my chocolate festival tag category.

It is a very fitting icon!

I've talked about the festival with some of my classmates and we're hoping to go in a big group. It's always lots of fun every year, but it's going to be even more so with all of my new friends!

I loooooooove bretzels. well you say pretzels, never knew why btw.

Oh, that's cool to know. I had no idea that they're called bretzels.

Cookies are the best, especially chocolate chip cookies. I've been itching to make a batch for awhile now but haven't done so because I've been bringing home lots of other baked goods.

I love your pictures!

I've never had a bagel that was perfectly round and then had a hole stamped out in the middle - all of them are dough rings and imperfect. (How can you west coast people then eat such "hole stamped bagels? That's like, wrong!)

It's because all we know is these hole-punched bagels. We've no idea what real bagels should look like!

Yummy, yummy, yummy. I'm especially in love with those ice cream sandwiches. They look heavenly. Bet they taste so too, right?

Ah, I find myself now impatiently awaiting your culinary entries. Not only does it make my mouth water but it always feasts my eyes. Such a delight overall, really.

Chef Mike sounds like fun. You seem to be surrounded with quite a fun staff, huh?

I hope you manage to hold yourself back from gaining the pounds you lost. Though I can forgive you for it, seeing as how yummy everything look. :)

How long will the bread class take?

The ice cream sandwich was fab. My friend and are going to try to go Bi-Rite tomorrow to see what other treats they have :)

I know, I feel really lucky to have all of these fun and knowledgeable instructors teaching me their crafts. I've heard that our next instructor is a bit of a hard-ass, though. I hope that doesn't prove to be the case.

I don't know, it's going to be hard. We're starting rich breads right now. I had two slices of pain au lait today and I really want another one. Plus we've got challah for tomorrow, then cinnamon rolls, monkey bread, etc. There's too much good stuff to be had!

Basic breads last three weeks, and then after that is Viennoiserie and Laminated doughs, meaning croissants and danishes and the like. Yeah, weight will most definitely be gained back.

Your icon is so fun!

Awesome! Hope you'll share your delicious findings with us once again.

I hope he won't be a hardass, too. Even if he is, you'll still get to learn exceptionally good stuff. So that's something to make up for supposed strictness.

Oh my, I LOVE cinnamon rolls. Anything cinnamon, really. Do share this recipe with us. I'd love you forever if you did. :) Now I can totally see you gaining that weight back. Too much temptation ahead. Poor ya!

Thanks! I couldn't resist this awesomely fun photoshoot of Matthew. He has such funny facial expressions.
Btw, I don't know if you read my last entry, but I mentioned you subtly pushing me to watch Pushing Daisies (no pun intended), which I'm thoroughly enjoying. I just finished watching episode 03 of the 2nd season. What a hilariously delightful that episode was. I can't stop grinning. So thanks a lot. For some reason this show reminds me of you. I kinda consider it your show. Haha! :P

Not sure if you're interested or not, but I found a podcast of Chef Mike trying to describe how to flip dough through sound effects. It's pretty funny to listen to, and I can attest that he has used "flubby-flub" in class before.

We use some professional equipment for almost all of our projects but I think that there are alternate at-home options for the steps that use that equipment. I'll try to find out.

I think 2x03 is one of the best episodes PD ever did, so I'm glad you liked it! I know what you mean, the show always picks me up; I can put it on when I'm in a less than stellar mood and it instantly makes me smile. You know, you're not the first person to tell me that the show reminds them of me. I didn't think that I talked about it a lot but apparently I do!
