shout when you wanna get off the ride

No school today! Hooray for three-day weekends made possible by faculty work days! I had every intention of sleeping in, but I still ended up waking at 6:30am. It's a good two hours later than the time I usually wake, but I still don't think that waking at anything before 8:00 merits the term "sleeping in ( Read more... )

Do you do it by hand or with a mixer? We use mixers and throw in the butter chunks gradually to get it smooth and relatively stable.

with a mixer! i think the main problem is the powder sugar i add...it melts and then it all falls apart. hm, i wonder if i should warm something up while i do it.
i know, gimme your recipe!!! i add butter, powder sugar and some flavor extract if i want, and then add milk gradually until it's enough. am i missing something?

I don't have it on me at the moment, but I'll type it up when I get home. I'm pretty sure that it consists of cream, powdered sugar, optional flavor extract, and butter. You put everything but the butter into the mixer and mix until combined, then throw in butter chunks gradually until you've used it all. Definitely do not add milk or any other liquid after you've added the butter; it'll make it less stable and more likely to melt.

Thank you, Marloes! I'm definitely working hard to develop and hone them so that I can take the pastry world by storm ;)

I god, I want one of those cream puffs IN MY MOUTH.

I am convinced that Jesse Eisenberg is the rich man's Michael Cera. He does Michael Cera's schtick better than Cera ever did. But maybe they cast him because both he and Scott are Canadian (I think?). I'm very excited for Scott Pilgrim.

Haha, nice use of icon there!

I've never thought of him that way but what you said makes so much sense. Plus, Eisenberg picks more mature and darker roles that lets him stretch out his acting chops. I'm actually somewhat interested in seeing The Social Network if just for him.

My God! This entry is made of win. As they say. It's a compilation of yumminess, humor, and overall triumphant productivity. Well done on those Eclairs and Cream Puffs, dear. Man, I want one right now. I love Eclairs.

I should mem all your culinary entries - they're just too precious.

As for Scott Pilgrim. I'm very excited for it, but I'm not a fan of Michael Cera. He looks 14 and he always acts nervous like you say. It's quite annoying. But Edgar Right never ceases to disappoint, right?

Aw, thank you! That is just about the nicest thing you could say to me. I think that the eclairs and cream puffs have been the most well-received project I've made thus far. Those suckers went fast when I brought them home!

I loved Michael Cera so much in Arrested Development but it's because his acting style befit the character. Now it's just becoming cliched. But it's definitely a fun and inventive movie, and it has a great energy that keeps up throughout the whole movie. Ellen Wong as Knives Chau is especially endearing.

You're welcome. I really meant it. Oh, no I can say nicer things. Only because you deserve it. They really look so. Haha, yeah, your dad seems to have liked them a lot. This proves what a hit they were.

YES! Michael was well-fitted in Arrested Development indeed. Too bad ever since Hollywood have stuck him in the awkward-teenager roles. I don't think this curse will ever be lifted.

Oh cool! This is a positive review. Can't wait to see it then! :)

Oh, and that Espresso cake looks yummy. I think I'd like it, cos I don't mind dryness in pastries.
