Oh dear, I hope Dick really doesn't become an indepth character in season 3. He's so perfect the way he is! Yeah, he'll no doubt be sad about Cassidy, but I don't think it's gonna affect him all THAT much. I hope not anyway. I like Dick uncomplicated. Haha!
You know, I reckon Cassidy didn't hurt Dick like he did to all those others that hurt him because like you said, they're brothers. I mean, even though Dick tortured and bullied Cassidy a billion times, he didn't want to go all psycho killer on him because (well, who can hate Dick?) they really loved each other. Even if they didn't want to admit it.
Wait, Kyle's in Big Love? Isn't that the exact same show in which Tina (Mac) and Amanda (Lilly) are in? Hee, it's like they're snagging all the (kinda of minor) cast of VM. :D
I'm not saying that Dick has to become an actual indepth character, but I would like the writers to at least touch on how Cassidy's death would affect him. He's dumb and selfish, but that doesn't mean that he can't properly grieve over his brother.
As for Cassidy not hurting Dick, the idea never crossed my mind that he actually would. I'm just surprised that he never at least stood up to Dick and told him to stop picking on him, not until "Ain't No Magic Mountain High Enough", and I think part of it was because of Mac. To love your brother doesn't necessitate acting like a complete doormat. I just can't fathom him continuing to play the wimp if he had all of those secrets within.
Kyle is on Big Love, although I don't think he's a regular. I'm not really sure, as I don't watch it, but I really do want to start. I've seen a few snippets here and there while flipping through the channels, and I'll take Tina, Amanda, and Kyle wherever I can get them :)
I agree. I don't think it was realistic at all that, despite all of his problems and all the things he had been through, Cassidy would be heartless enough to do what he did. I'm too lazy to go into more detail, but I also think you covered most of my thoughts as it is.
Although, I too found the whole rooftop scene, while it was playing out, to be incredibly intense, yes, but very heartbreaking. That one, in particular, was incredibly sad :(
I never though about Dick in the wake of all of this. I'd actually like to see the writers go into more depth with his character. I don't think I want to change who he is, per se, but it would certainly be interesting to see that new side of him conflict with who he used to be.
Not only do I not believe that Cassidy would be heartless to do all that he did, I don't think he even had the balls to do it. He had a rather weak character, and I suppose that Phoenix Land Trust thing with Kendall was supposed to prove otherwise, but I still don't buy him going forward with all he did.
The scene where Cassidy knew he was finished, where he stepped off of the ledge like it was nothing, was heartbreaking. It felt a lot more characteristic for him than his showdown with Veronica and Logan.
I want the writers to show Dick saddened by his loss for at least one scene, and then he can go back to his usual ways (maybe as a defense mechanism?) if they want . To not show it and just go straight to him cracking jokes again would imply that he didn't care about his brother, which I don't believe at all. Dick may be a first-class idiot, but he's not made of stone.
Maybe that's just why he was so upset when Dick ocntinued to pick on him becasue he could so easily turn the tables. But then, that wouldn't be very Cassidy-like thus causing suspicion? I agree with everything though. Definitely rushed, felt very empty. And last year, there were a couple people responsible for different things. And this season, Cassidy covered it all. I don't know. I think that's why it feels so weird. But the more I watch the episode, and the more I think about it, I love it. As bliccy said, sometimes you just have to leave all the little things alone and just enjoy the fandom. I mean, you're not going to find anything half as good as VM anyway, right? :) But it is fun to talk about this show, no doubt about that
