I can't believe I wasted my brain space and energy on this book.

Twilight is forgivable. It really honestly is. It was cracky, but it was FUN to read. To the point where I am looking forward to seeing the movie and laughing at it in the theaters.

New Moon had it's moments. It was nice seeing Bella have a sort of life that didn't revolve around ( Read more... )

read:twilight, read: eclipse, read: breaking dawn, read: new moon, links

It was like reading a novelization of a Lifetime television movie. But worse.

Ok, that is the best description of the Twilight novels I've ever heard. But yea. I do enjoy some the mythology...if the books could just be about vampires and werewolves, and no Bella and Edward, I'd love them.

LOL, I try to be as accurate as possible, bb.

The problem with the history was that there was too little of it. A few pages of the tribe and why there are shape-shifters? NOT ON.

Even if she wrote the books without Edward and Bella, they'd still need to DIAF. She'd do SOMETHING to ruin it. LOL.

Not to mention she'd probably still thread in her pro-teenage marriage/pregnancy, anti-abortion beliefs despite the health of the mother in our faces. But that's my personal annoyance. XD

Oh no. Trust me, I'm so with you on that part. I have so many issues with how she writes her female characters. It kind of makes me scared that there are all these teenage girls reading these and thinking that's how to have a healthy relationship.

Why would you name your baby that???

I was really tempted earlier when you compared the books to JKR's Epilogue to say--you really have no idea just yet. Renesmee Carlie is like James, Lily and Albus Severus all rolled into one.

Also, having been very pleasantly surprised by The Host, Breaking Dawn was even worse. I was torn between what I knew she wanted for the series (and the evidence from all the books before of interesting elements mixed in with a lot of crap) and the newfound hope that she was actually a capable writer.

Just know that you are not alone in these feelings. I think most of her fandom experienced them. :\ There have also been some pretty hilarious book reviews, my favorite might have been the one in the Washington Post.

It's just...she's blown my mind...in the WORST possible way, you know?

It truly makes me believe that anyone who can write some serious trash can be successful in YA fiction as long as they sex it up a bit. Which is ironic considering her stance on the sexing. O_O

There's a great review I found while I was contemplating finishing it. It's at Jezebel. "What To Expect When You're Expecting...A Vampire."

I'm just going to think purely about Twilight and forget everything else that followed. Midnight Sun may be amusing just to finally get in Edward's head, and I'm anticipating the biggest emo book ever created.

But then I think: Haven't they milked this cash cow, yet?
