The church was a quiet place, and one not made to accommodate small children. And so a small child (who didn't look much like one, admittedly) became very bored waiting for his caretaker to come back from wherever he'd gone off to, and decided to go find something to do ( Read more... )

[[He's got Ion hair under that hat, yes~]]

Florian had started watching his feet as he walked with his hands behind his back. The sight of someone else's feet up ahead caused him to stop and look up; the fact that the new person dressed differently from all the other people he'd passed so far, and looked about the same height as him, caused him to come closer.

"Who're you?" Guy hadn't quite got him to learn not to talk to strangers. Plus this person was fun to look at! All the green and black and yellow and ooh, those ribbons were long. He was tempted to reach for one.

It took Sync a moment to process exactly what was happening. Could this really be another replica of Ion? Had others besides him been saved from their death sentence in Zaleho?

He couldn't think of an appropriate response. After all, he didn't feel he understood who he was himself. He was neither his own person nor a proper replica of the Fon Master.

Sync raised one hand and slowly removed his mask so that the two of them stood face to face--identical. The only real difference in their features, perfectly matched in every way, was the look in their eyes.

"I'm..." He regained his senses. "I'm Sync the Tempest."

It was almost funny how similar their faces were. For a moment it was as if he was looking into a mirror, though he remembered his eyes didn't look that way, and the hair and clothes were different too.

Still he blinked, staring at this strange not-reflection, tilting his head to the side with a strange half-thought that maybe the other would too.

After a moment he lifted a hand, reaching out for (but not quite touching) Sync's face, then, reconsidering, dropped the arm again and took a deep breath instead. "I'm Florian! Your name's really long. Why do you look like me? D'you wanna go play?"

Sync couldn't imagine himself running around, wasting his time on something like that. His whole life so far had been about his duties as a God General. Besides, games were for children and he wasn't (nor was he ever!) really a child...

God Generals did not give in. God Generals did not babysit replica failures. God Generals did not waste time chatting when they were supposed to be picking up more paperwork! Shooing people away had never been a problem for him, but if this kid wandered around too much longer, he'd be found. Not that Sync cared what happened to him obviously, but if it got out that Florian was a replica, it could very well get out that Sync shared a face with that naive, empty-headed Ion. Horrible ( ... )

They were going back? That was no fun. Florian pouted as he followed Sync back the way he'd come. Though...which way had he come from? He wasn't sure. He'd taken a lot of lefts and rights and spinning in circles (he might have gone backwards a few times because of that) and...

"...D'you know where it is? Is it that way?" A pause as he suddenly thought of something. "Maybe Guy'll find us! He knows where it is." Guy knew everything, after all, especially the location of his own room.

"Guy?" Sync stopped again and Florian almost walked into him. "Who the hell is that ( ... )

"Guy's really nice!" He was happy that Sync had started acting nicer, not bothering to question the reason why.

Florian folded his own hands behind his back, just like Sync was doing, and walked so that he was almost behind him. "I think I was this way. And, and I remember I went through some doors and stuff! Ooh, d'you think when we get there Guy'll be there? And then he can make food for us! He makes really yummy food~"

He was really a talkative kid, when people were willing to listen to him, and Sync looked like he was okay with listening right now. Though it was hard to tell under that thing on his face...funny how he hadn't really thought about it before.

"Why're you wearing that thing? It looks funny. Can I wear it?"

[[He may be the world's sneakiest jerk, but at least he's sneaky in a friendly way~]]

[[OOC: The comments were getting squished.]]

Sync sighed in minor defeat. There had better not have been anyone around to see this. It was too embarrassing! He averted his eyes, not that it was visible. "Good," he murmured, still attempting to sound as though he didn't care. "You stopped."

He opened and closed his other hand discreetly a few times. No harm done. It would have been bad to have to explain a set of broken knuckles when the others got back. Paperwork was never that grueling.

"And yeah, I'm still mad at Van. I probably always will be." The back of Sync's head came to rest against the wall. Something felt different. There was still resent and bitterness, but it didn't seem quite as cold as before, prominent as it still was.

"Get this straight, though--I'm only staying until that Guy person comes, and it's only because I need to find out more about what's going on around here. It's not because I like you or anything stupid like that."

One last sniffle, and he was pretty sure he was better. Sync was mad at Van? That wasn't good. Though it was better than being mad at Florian.

"If Van said sorry would you not be mad anymore?" He pulled up his legs and tried sitting right next to Sync. Everything seemed relatively okay now, though he wasn't quite sure. Either way, he was ignoring the part about Sync not liking him because he liked Sync and he hoped Sync liked him back, even if he didn't say so. "When Guy gets here we can go eat food. D'you like food?" He was starting to get kind of hungry, after all.

He had never really thought about it so simply before. What would he do if Van apologized? Could he just forgive him and forget about it ( ... )

"You didn't eat anything? Are you hungry? Being hungry's not good!" Paperwork didn't sound very fun if you couldn't eat because of it, though he wasn't entirely sure what it was.

And then there was another question! "When it's daytime I go and look at stuff and get lost, and sometimes Guy plays with me a little, and...um....." He stopped to think for a moment. What else did he do? He hadn't really been out long enough to learn many other ways to entertain himself. "...I dunno what else."

[[I imagine him waving his arms as he speaks, haha.]]

[[OOC: Okay!]]

Sync stopped. "That sound had better not be what I think it is," he grumbled, and turned around to confirm his unpleasant premonition. He'd have clapped a hand to his face if it didn't mean splorking it on his mask in the process.

"Why are you following me? Actually, don't answer that." He stormed angrily down another stairwell and halfway down the next hallway in an effort to out-walk the other boy and prevent further conversation. Sync was just going to go back down to his room, pound on some practice targets and then maybe sleep. He would try to forget there were other rejected replicas like him out there.

Aww, he got noticed. Florian sped up to try to match Sync's pace; this wasn't too hard since they were only walking. Silence seemed important for some reason, like if he made as little noise as possible Sync would let him keep following. So silent he stayed, speeding up when Sync did and following his footsteps, a game to see if he could match the sounds of their feet as they touched the ground.

He wasn't about to be forgotten that easily~

A hefty sigh was given, although Sync made no further attempt to verbally chase Florian away. Whatever! He could follow him around for now as long as he shut up. If the attitude wasn't scaring him away, maybe the sheer display of force in his fighting practice would. It was a hope, at least.

He made his way downstairs, and finally, from there to the soldier's quarters. Florian obediently followed all the way. Thankfully, he was being quiet now which was as relieving as it was weird. The God General's rooms were seperate from the other soldiers due to rank and the fact that they often dealt with sensitive information.

...should Florian really have been there?

Whatever. It's not like he's smart enough to figure anything out.He marched straight for their practice hall, which was larger than the one the other soldiers used. The marble floor was dulled and scratched by all of the attacks that had echoed through ( ... )

Florian followed obediently, falling behind occasionally when he saw something new but ultimately keeping up.

And what was this? The floor was all scratchy! And then Sync was gone, then over there, and he didn't know Sync could move so fast! "Wooww~" He stood for a few moments, watching excitedly, before starting to move around the practice hall. It was a new place to investigate, after all! There were lots of new things to see.
