Daath

The mission was to prevent a war that had been brewing on the horizon for years now. There had been incidents in both the Malkuth Empire and in the Kingdom of Kimlasca-Lanvaldear. Accusations had been made of wrong doings on both sides and the tension was cresting to unbearable heights ( Read more... )

"It's Rose!" Dist shrieked as he flailed his arms about, oblivious to Jade the horrible Necromancer sneaking up behind him. "It's Rose, damm-ACK!"

While Tokunaga was a stuffed animal, it still contained fontech within it. It was this fontech that connected solidly with the back of Dist's head, causing him to crumble to the ground like a heap of bricks.

Anise peeked over the edge of the chair, surpised that the fontech genius had suddenly gone silent. The sight of the Colonel calmly looking back at her made the girl flinch. She was in trouble now, for sure.

"...You didn't have to hit Dist that hard, Colonel," she muttered sullenly, her mind sorting through possible excuses for her actions. "We were just... Uh..."

Jade briefly examined Dist's prone form to verify that the God General was indeed unconscious and not merely stunned. "You can think of some excuse on the way," he said as he threw Tokunaga up at Anise. "Right now I need your help to get Ion out of Daath."

"Huh? What for?" Anise caught the stuffed doll easily, looking down at the arte user in confusion. After prompting Tokunaga to grow in size, the chair feel to the ground with a hard 'thump', not used to that much weight. She hopped down from her puppet and let it return to normal size before turning to face Jade.

"Did something happen, Colonel?" she asked worriedly, noting the serious look upon the man's face.

[[OOC: Go, go, Jade! I'll be back tomorrow sometime, so after this post, try not to rush on without me until I'm back.;;]]

Meanwhile, Ion had awoken to complete silence. Given the location, the quiet reverence was to be expected, but it didn't sit well with him anyway. He had not seen Mohs since early that morning, either...

The boy rose to his feet, smoothing out his robes and trying to look orderly. He preferred to avoid sleeping in his clothes, but the Score had taken a lot out of him today and all he had wanted afterward was to sleep. He was feeling much better now, though, and could return to his duties.

--Now where had Anise gone?

"I hope she and Arietta didn't cross paths again." Ion sighed at the thought of having to break up another needless argument, and began to make his way downstairs. He would wait for Anise in the chapel. When the Score wasn't being read, it was the most peaceful place in the whole cathedral, and he knew the girl was aware of that.

"I'm sure Anise will be along shortly," he told himself.

With a destination firmly in mind there was no further need to continue their conversation until they got to the chapel. Their trip was fortunately uneventful. No one they did happen to pass by seemed to find it unusual for Jade or Anise to be walking together given the rapport between the two.

The fact that Ion was found to be in the chapel alone was further in their favor, but Jade knew full well that their luck could change at any time.

"Fon Master Ion," Jade said as the doors closed behind him and Anise. "I trust that you're ready?"

The Fon Master looked up to discover that he was now not only in the company of Anise, but Colonel Curtiss as well. No doubt this had something to do with the current state of affairs and the lingering feeling of war on the horizon.

"Jade," Ion said, tipping his head politely in greeting and momentarily smiling lightly in Anise's direction. "This is perfect timing. I'm fairly certain Mohs is preoccupied, since the God Generals are out." This time of day was quiet. There would be no one to see them.

"I'm ready to do anything I can to stop all of this."

"...Why am I always left in the dark?" Anise muttered out of the corner of her mouth, mostly to herself. She was starting to understand that the 'mission' probably had something to do with the war, but didn't want to make plans without enough information.

The girl was happy to see that the Fon Master was in good health, even though he'd collapsed in exhaustion only a few hours before. "Ion, are you sure you're feeling up to this?" she asked with worry in her voice.
