Of all the times that Lisa had engrossed herself in her work, and even worked herself to the bone to try and avoid thinking of something that was bothering her, this was the first time that Lisa had put so much stress on herself to the point of becoming physically ill. Despite that, Cynthia felt the need to remind her, when she called in, that it was her fifth sick day since March ( ... )

"I heard you were sick." Jackson answered pleasantly, moving from the doorway further into the room, glancing around. "And came to check up on you." His smirk made the comment seem almost condescending, sharp.

"Well father does know best." He said, distracted as he glanced around the room, picking up a magazine and sitting against the arm of the couch farthest from her. He flipped it open, lip quirked.

"Ten ways to make your home a safe and relaxing environment. Do you see this Lis'? It says here this is great to relieve that work day stress. Feng shui. Number ten, bonsai trees- now you could use that. Give you something to throw all that nervous energy at."

Came to check up on her. Read: Came to harass. Lisa was getting better and better at understanding the appropriate translations for Jackson's words - not that it made her like the meaning any more. When he took a seat, when he began to go through her things, she felt her body tense up instinctively - that wasn't right. He shouldn't be here. A sudden coughing fit racked her body and she brought a kleenex to her mouth to cover it, her other arm holding her stomach because it had come to the point where the coughing made her abdominal muscles hurt. Jackson's presence wasn't helping.

"I didn't tell anyone I was sick - I just barely called in at work. What, are you tapping my phones now?" There was a latent venom in her voice. Would she be surprised if that were true? Not really. Though, the exponentially increasing level on which he was invading her personal space was absurd. "Would you stop that?" She sat up and made an effort to take the magazine out of his hands. She didn't have the patience for feng sui, anyway.

"That would be expensive Lis'." Jackson answered, still flipping through the magazine, tone as though it were a stupid question that received an answer out of pity alone. "Number seven, bolt locks create a visible and dramatic sense of safety." his tone was amused. "They have a point Lis', those are a bitch to get into. Not hard, but noisy." he flipped the page casually.

"What were we- oh right, no, no phone taps. I just keep tabs on my investments." He raised his brow at the page before looking back over to her, holding the magazine out of her grasp. "You sound terrible." He scolded. "You should learn to take better care of yourself. Does your throat hurt?"
