It Seems Some People Didn't Take It Seriously.

A number of disconnected things today (she says, as if that's unusual). Firstly, I recently began re-reading the Harry Potter series in preparation for the release of Book Seven, and I suddenly realised, in a bizarre sort of flashback, that, back when I was ten or eleven years old, the first non-canonical pairing I ever picked up on subtext for - ( Read more... )

celebrity plague train, oh younger self, weird pairings, xkcd, video, advertising, harry potter

Hey, I've friended you if that's ok?

I used to be all proud of myself for realising Batman and Robin were gay for each other by about the age of nine, but that's just because I had eyes. You, on the other hand, were obviously some sort of crack-pairing prodigy. Which, you know, well done.

Absolutely! I just went to your journal, scrolled down a bit, encountered a ghostly octopus and decided that I obviously had to friend you back immediately. Hello!

I had completely forgotten about it, so I had no idea until just now that I'd got into utter crackpairings so early. I'm not sure whether to be proud of myself or weep.

No, don't go back under the rock! I'm much too thrilled to find that I'm not the only person who seriously thought about Hagrid/Hermione.

The Orange trailers are wonderful. They're half the reason I go to the cinema, really.

Hang on, Heineken, you make those commercials for other countries but not for us?! If I liked beer, I would boycot you!

Also, I think that while it is very shocking and not exactly the moral thing to do, I hope that it does make people think about becoming a donor, and at least this show brings in the open that the people on those waiting lists are THERE and they need donors to survive.

I can't remember what my very first pairing was (though have severe doubts that it was even half as disturbing as yours), but occasionally I watch things I liked as a kid and realise I was sort of mentally slashing the characters. I can't think of a good example right now, except perhaps for Steel/Silver in everybody's favourite obscure late-seventies sci-fi show, Sapphire and Steel. What can I say? We were clearly all very odd children.

In other news, xkcd is consistently adorable, but I don't think anything will ever top my love of Achewood. "YOU...ARE...RAD."
