BE IT ASSUMED THAT Pyramid Head is a manifestation of Jame's subconscious, as is the rest of Silent Hill, and that PH's role is that of the ultimate arbiter of Silent Hill's judgment.

BE IT ASSUMED THAT a mindful person can exercise influence even over their own subconscious.

BE IT ASSUMED THAT Silent Hill does not have, in itself, the capacity to kill James, and that thus James never physically dies (and does not get, at any point in his stay there, the "in water" ending) regardless of how he is wounded.

BE IT ASSUMED THAT James manages to find meaning and reason in Silent Hill, and a calm spot within himself, so that he may become mindful enough to give Pyramid Head literal voice and the will to speak with him.
