What mistakes, misconceptions and/or superstitions do you remember from playing videogames as a child? (Or, indeed, as an adult.)

For example, when my brother Joseph and I were kids, we'd often play Sonic the Hedgehog 2 on our Sega Master

I SPAMMED GFS TOO i had a turbo controller that made it easy to boost them all the way up, then i ran into Adel when she junctioned Rinoa and BOY i hit a wall i was not prepared for. Then I got to Ultimecia and when she insta-killed my GFs i was like >:OOOO

Exactly the same thing happened to me! What do you mean my friend will die if I repeatedly summon gods to hurl fireballs into her face? That's completely unreasonable.
