I just finished the second instalment of Umineko: When They Cry, and I am way too confused to theorise, but I've got a handful of thoughts on it anyway.

There is so much I cannot say about Beatrice/Battler but their interactions in chapter 2 fueled me. It's very much one of those things where you have to wonder how much the writer is projecting. I actually watched the anime before I played the game (not my best decision; the anime is...not good), so my first exposure to those scenes was actually seeing them play out fully-animated. They're, uh, interesting. Admittedly I don't remember how much actually made it into the anime (as I said: not good), but some of them certainly did.

I'm a little sad that I can't go looking for those anime scenes for fear of spoilers, because I would definitely have an interest in seeing them animated.

If it helps, the anime only covers chapters 1-4, so you're halfway to the point where you can check it out! And then be disappointed. I mean, I have vague memories of enjoying those scenes, it's just that the anime in general is disappointing. Decent art, though.
