I myself am totally down for the "unable to tell what's prediction and what's reality" idea. It's your wheelhouse! Run with it!

Re: Carl: Canon says that Kamski personally gave Markus to Carl two years ago. So there is at least something interesting in there that Kamski may have intended Markus (who is a unique model) to become deviant and thought living with Carl was the best way to ensure it.

It's hard to work out the best way to write that concept, but maybe it'd be simplest to approach it from Hank's perspective, seeing Connor break down from the outside. Hmm.
