Fanfiction: Well, This Is Awkward (Final Fantasy XV, Prompto/Noctis/Gladio)

My sudden, intense burst of writing for Final Fantasy XV again continues! This is rather less serious than my last couple of fics. Somehow I still haven't written a Noctis/Gladio/Ignis/Prompto fic, but at least this incorporates three of the four. Sorry for leaving you out, Ignis

I feel obligated to tell you that while I have never played this game and have no plans to do so because I don't own a PS4, I've read all of your fics for it and now I kind of like Prompto a lot. So. Just thought I'd let you know.

I can't tell you how happy this makes me! I love Prompto far too much - he's a blend of hilarious and loving and deeply insecure that really works for me - and I just want everyone to like him. I also really enjoy his English voice acting, although sadly you don't get to experience that in the thing I'm about to link right now.

You may or may not be interested in this, but just in case: there's a short prequel anime episode (fifteen minutes) showing how Prompto and Noctis first became friends, and it's pretty cute. Featuring: Prompto's sad lonely childhood, Prompto looking after a tiny dog. (Although I should probably mention that it also features... maybe 'internalised fatshaming' is the phrase? Prompto goes 'OH MY GOD, I CAN'T BE FRIENDS WITH THE PRINCE, I'M NOT NEARLY HOT ENOUGH' and devotes all his time to working out, while Noctis sadly watches, going 'why is that kid running marathons all the time, why won't he just come over and talk to me?' The straightest backstory.)

I watched that video and also a couple other Prompto scenes on YouTube and I like him even more now, oh dear. Although the prequel is kind of heavy on the fatshaming, yeah.

...I think I'm gonna go read more fic and try not to fall into a fandom with a canon I'm only barely aware of.

It just occurred to me: if you've been running around in the magical land of Prompto's suffering, you're almost certainly aware of the fact that he was kidnapped and probably tortured by Ardyn. You may not be aware of the part before that, where you stay at a caravan with Ardyn and Ardyn just touches Prompto's face for no reason (it loops, so you don't need to keep watching after the face-touching unless you want to see it twice). It's so creepy! I think the worst thing is the way Ardyn swoops in and Prompto leans away and Ardyn pauses for half a second, then touches Prompto's face anyway, as if to drive home 'I know you don't want me to touch you and I don't care.'

Ardyn inspires a lot of non-con, you'll be shocked to hear, and I find it horrifyingly plausible.
