I thought BBC Atlantis was meant to be Darker And Grimmer this season? I don't think it really has yet, but they did introduce Rollo-from-Vikings so in my head they're working up to having more Vikings on the show.

They did say this series was going to be darker, but, as far as I can tell, 'darker' is being interpreted very literally; there are a lot of scenes filmed at night or in caves. It's a pain to make out what's going on.
