I recently bought the complete Puella Magi Madoka Magica DVD and rewatched it with th_esaurus! Here are my thoughts.

Earth ponies have magic too, actually. Their's is just a lot more subtle than the other pony races.

Oh, dear, that makes a Madoka Magica crossover even more different. The world of ponies will need a pretty radical overhaul if it's to work. But, to be honest, this is something that should never be written, so perhaps that's for the best.

Yeah, earth ponies have super strength and a magical connection to the land and animals, but it shows itself so subtly and they're so much closer to how we think of real ponies that it's easy to think of them as non-magical.
