- can I add my approval of this version of Macbeth? IT'S IN A KITCHEN. It's quite unexpectedly homoerotic, isn't there a conversation where Macbeth is like - 'I love you!' to Banquo I mean what the what the what. And Keeley Hawes is Lady Macbeth! it's so great

There is a quite remarkable scene in which Macbeth pulls Banquo's head to his chest and basically goes 'TELL ME YOU LOVE ME'. Also, Macbeth kisses Banquo within two minutes of his first appearance. It is magnificently homoerotic.

I have a ridiculous soft spot for the happy stuff near the beginning, actually. The conversation about sparrows and squids and the play-shoving right before the dustmen turn up. Happy Joe and Billy are adorable!
I may have a spare couple of hours tomorrow evening and I plan to rewatch this.

ahhh! Aaaaahhh! Why do you have to introduce me to such wonderful and glorious things when I have no money? :<
This entry made me squee (especially for the 'James McAvoy being shirtless/homoerotic' part). The dog is now barking because he thinks something awful has happened. Or he's having, yet another, allergic reaction to life. Either or, they're not really too dissimilar.

It's wonderful - James McAvoy is in leather trousers :>
I mean, it's a shame that I have no idea what's really going on in terms of being able to relate it back to the play (never studied MacBeth in school - the school said it was too violent :|), and oh my word, why is she wiping blood on the chef-guy-who-isn't-McAvoy? :< However, on the whole, it's marvellous ♥
