Do I Want To Make Out In General, Or With You?

reipan and I went to see Glee Live! at the O2 last night! We were seated in what I think is called the Upper Tier but should really be called 'oh my God help why are we in the sky', so we were extremely high up and the performers looked tiny, but it was great fun! And it all sounded fantastic. I really don't know why Glee bothers with autotune ( Read more... )

recording recaps, fanfiction, video, x-men, rei is prince of cats, glee, james mcavoy stares into my soul, crossovers, pokémon, conversational adventures, truly appalling jokes, glee cast, apparently i may have a sexuality, riona's slightly scary family, should never be written ever

Is it really Lensherr in the subs? I come from comicsland, so I will never be able to spell it in my head as anything other than Lehnsherr, but Magneto is the man of a thousand aliases anyway (Lehnsherr I believe being one of them? Oh whatever it's a different 'verse) so I suppose it doesn't matter much. I really, really want to see the movie again.

The post-film discussion somehow ended with me shouting 'I REFUSE TO WRITE FANFICTION IN WHICH MEWTWO IS THE LOVECHILD OF ERIK LENSHERR AND CHARLES XAVIER' at Rei in the middle of a restaurant.

But but but you should totally write that. Totally.

I just realized I have no Magneto icons. I guess I will have to make do with one of his daughter instead.

It was already established as Lehnsherr in my head, despite my lack of acquaintance with comicsland, so I was quite surprised, but yes: at one point Shaw says something to Erik in German, and the translation subtitles say 'Lensherr'. I intended to keep an eye out for the spelling in the credits, but alas I forgot.

I WILL NOT WRITE IT. I WILL NOT. I REFUSE.

Damn you comicsland and your many, many spellings. Your many easily mispelled spellings. (Things said in anguish late at night to my screen: "No, internet, no, it's Havok with a k! Not with a c!")

Also, forgot to mention in my first comment, but the last part of your entry confused me a lot for a moment, because Magneto has/had a clone named Joseph. Had to go "wait, what" and then reread. Your family sounds amazing.

McAvoy really is so very attractive, isn't he? I don't know what it is about him, but I just know that I want one.

I know! Somehow he's managed to make every character I've ever seen him playing massively attractive, whether he's a murderer or a mutant or a freaking faun (I just tried Googling "james mcavoy made me a furry" and was saddened by the lack of results). Your icon is one of my favourite shots of him.

Oh, yes, I saw your entries about it! Awesome! I hadn't really thought about it, but I suppose the Kurt-Blaine skit must have been slightly different in America (well, I suppose you could theoretically have Kurt trill 'since we're in ENG~laaaand!' if you're not actually there, but it would be an odd thing to do).

Man, Glee Live sounds awesome! It's cool that they all stayed in character and didn't just perform the songs- it's a nice touch.

Maybe both spellings are valid? They're close enough together to maybe just be a variation due to the fact that his surname isn't English. I kind of prefer Lehnserr myself.

ajdhfktnflsn JAMES MCAVOY'S REAL ACCENT. I'd never heard it before and somehow this just makes him EVEN HOTTER.

If both are used in canon, I'm sure they're both valid. Neither seems to be used as an actual German surname, as far as I can tell, but Lehnsherr is at least an actual German word (meaning 'liege'). I think I favour Lehnsherr, although Lensherr is the spelling used in this particular film.

(His first name has also been rendered as both Erik and Eric by canonical sources, but Erik seems to be generally agreed upon there. Blast, I thought I wouldn't have problems like this again after Jeremy O/Usbo(u)rne of Peep Show.)

On a less frustrating note, yes, James McAvoy's accent is magnificent.

(EDIT: OH, OH, ALSO: if you haven't heard McAvoy's natural accent before, I can only assume you haven't seen this clip, which is utterly, utterly charming and delightful. You don't have to watch it if you don't want to, but there it is. It involves singing, although most of it is done by Michael Fassbender because McAvoy is rubbish and doesn't know any of the words.)

As if I wouldn't want to watch a clip of McAvoy and Fassbender singing (or mumbling I guess in McAvoy's case!) :P That was lovely, thank you! And man, everyone in the whole world ships Professor X/Magneto, don't they?

(this road is going to end in stupid domestic First Class Erik/Charles genfic, I just know it)

'It is a little bit of a mini-tragedy that him and Magneto don't, you know, have sex and become married and become best friends' - James McAvoy on his character.

By which I mean yes (and by which I also mean write the fic, wriiiite iiiiit).

I'm glad you had fun at Glee! I'm kind of jealous at everyone who got to go, but then I watch terrible mobile phone footage and all the screaming makes me a bit less sorry I missed it. It also makes me feel like an old lady. You damn kids, enjoying your ridiculous tv show too much to control yourselves.

I was not prepared for the screaming. My ears stopped ringing after a good night's sleep, but for a good while after I emerged from the arena everything sounded as if I were hearing it from underwater.
