Holmes Was A Tall Man, With Long Fingers And Curiously Pointed Ears.

I am at ms_treesap's house at present, struggling with the tiny keyboard of her Eee! Yesterday, I came here to watch the original series of Star Trek with her, rhaegal, fera_festiva and heyorion, all of whom were delightful.

The extent of my Star Trek knowledge prior to this experience ( Read more... )

star trek, film, fanfiction, implausible theories, holmes and watson: they fight crime!, harry potter, lol fanfiction, finding inappropriate people hot, crossovers, my lj friends are real people apparently, pokémon, death note, first impressions

because the writers really, really wanted to make that 'no tribble at all' pun.

Pretty much, although the original pun was "may their tribbles be small ones". And in this case, the writer was singular - David Gerrold's maiden script was "TTWT".

Hee, I sort of love the idea of naming creatures purely for the sake of a pun. Well done, writers.

(EDIT: It's not clear at all that the 's' is struck through there, is it? Whoops. Thank you for the correction; I generally use 'writers' when I have no idea who was responsible for what I've watched.)

PERHAPS SPOCK IS SHERLOCK HOLMES.

It would certainly explain the deerstalker - why else would Holmes need a hat with built in earflaps?

...I was going to mention that Holmes is never said to be wearing a deerstalker in the original stories, but that explanation is so perfect that I am going to pretend he is.

I was coming from the same place in making the joke; once the image is there, it's too good to pass up on... *g*

PERHAPS SPOCK IS SHERLOCK HOLMES.

Actually, descended from him, as Spock himself stated in the sixth movie. Or Conan Doyle. It can go either way, really.

Oh my goodness, really? That's wonderful. Thank you for informing me of this.

Haha, yes! The quote you mentioned is a callback to that movie, where Spock goes, "An ancestor of mine maintained that when you eliminate the impossible, whatever remains, however improbable, must be the truth."

Curiously, only the preview seems to want to load, but I actually think I saw that a week or so ago. I found it mildly alarming, if brilliant.

That frightened me. In a good way, I think. Although the Scotty bit made me sad.

I am sorry for slighting McCoy! Perhaps I have not yet seen the episodes in which he displays his skill. (Actually, I absolutely loved him in the film.)

I guess you've yet to see the episode where he slaps a pregnant woman. (Same, he's an absolute nut.)
