I went back and forth on all three of them for a bit - they're all mostly very good with moments of both brilliance and rubbishness - but finally settled on Donna, with the caveat that while she's my favourite in telly canon I'm weirdly uninterested in fannish endeavours about her whereas I love reading and writing the other two.

That is interesting! I read huge amounts of fanfiction about Rose and none about Martha or my favourite, Donna, but I suspect that may just be because my fannish involvement in Doctor Who waned after the Ninth Doctor's series.

It actually surprises me that I picked Donna, because she took such a long time to grow on me. But in retrospect, I liked her more than I ever did Martha, and my Rose love got cancelled out by my massive and all-consuming Rose hate by the end of series two.

Fear not; I love Rose as well! I don't like some of the things that were done with her, but I do love her. I just happen to love Donna a little more.

I love Martha mostly because of the whole Master mini series bit - she's just so gung ho, and so COOL! Though Donna is very, very close - it took at least thirty seconds of decision, and in a poll that is a long time!

I tried to write a mini fic, and accidentally pressed enter too early so it posted before I was done! Woe. James May WOULD be a brilliant companion, though. He'd lecture the Doctor about how he was flying too fast, and shouldn't this squashy sofa really have a seatbelt?
