I read When We Were Orphans several years ago for a book club, and I hated it. There are very few books I put in the "I hated it" group, but that one made it. That, The House of Sand and Fog, and The Chocolate War.

I keep hearing people rave about Never Let Me Go by Ishiguro, but, like you with Remains of the Day, after reading When We Were Orphans, I have no intention of reading another of his books.
