There are so many martial arts styles that I feel so lost. Where do I start? Add to that, my dad took aikido in college and my cousin takes karate and they both say their style is better. I give up.
But but but, it sounds like fun. Fun for the whole family indeed.
Oh the age old my dick martial arts style is better -argument! *grin* It's adorable, really. I've witnessed many of those. But actually, the best choice depends on what you're most interested in. For smooth throws and motion like dancing and better balance, I'd go for aikido. It still brings the sweat, but it's not aggressive. Now krav maga would be the exact opposite: brutal, efficient and adrenaline packed. Then there's kick oriented karate and more grappling with judo and so forth etc.
My approach would be to try out as many styles as possible. Most dojos here let anyone try one or two sessions for free anyway. The variety of styles is incredible, there's something for everyone. The trouble is finding, but hey, as they say, it's not the destination, but the journey that takes you there!
