Priorities

Sep 03, 2007 00:27

My priorities are past out of whack and possibly bordering on screwed up. Most of my week is spent at work or on work that I bring home. Attempting to have a life takes part of my weekend, as does catching up on sleep. My apartment is a mess, I keep rereading the same book and watching the same movies over and over instead of reading new books ( Read more... )

Yeah, but you deal with children all DAY. Most parents at least get to go to an adult filled job, with a different set of frustrations, before coming back to their kids. Of course you're exhausted.

I totally love you for being awake right now :D

My friend also teaches at my school, so she deals with kids all day then has her 1-year-old all night. So I can't complain to her ever.

hey, just because you don't have kids doesn't mean you can't complain about being tired and working a lot. this is one of my sensitive spots lately, so don't mind me if i rant. ;)

there will always be people who are more tired than you and people who are less tired than you. you don't have to wait until you're the tiredest person in the whole world to earn the right to complain about it. sure, you may not have to wake up in the middle of the night to feed a baby, but it's not like you lie on your couch being fanned and having grapes fed to you 24/7.

so yeah. next time you complain about being tired, and a parent says to you "at least you don't have a kid to take care of!" - look them in the eye and say "look, buddy, this isn't a competition about whose life is the most hectic. i do a LOT of work and i'm allowed to say when i'm tired. so there!"

and in my case, i like to remind them sometimes that i DO get woken up at 3am, but it's to take care of 18-year-olds instead of babies. ;)

18 year-olds can be big babies at times too. Worse, they can talk and thus whine more.
